Question DVD Lock-out HowTo?

Hello All.

After reading the thread about disabling the dvd lock-out on a caddy (factory install) I am wondering how to do a lock-out on a carpc? I am getting all my parts together to do the install and DO NOT want dvd's to be played, Although I will be using a dvd-rom drive. I will have a stand alone dvd player piped to the other monitors (all out of my view). On the off chance that I do get into an accident one day I don't want it to be suggested that I was watching a movie.

Thanks
Jay

frodo player makes it easy

just get that and then do a search for "simply" and "circuit" shouold bring you to the 9 pin DIN design used in frodo's software control

Just do not install any video playable software.
There is always a way to bypass the system. It's just the mater of know how.
CarPC is the system you do it yourself so of course you know how to bypass it.

Even if you have a lock out when they see that it isn't factory installed they are going to claim you were watching a movie...

Here are the parts I used:

DB9-RJ11

12VDC/1A SPDT Micro Relay

I wrote my own interlock app but I had recently switched to Frodo and it's working perfectly. Vis, Video, and DVD are locked out. Video and DVD still plays and has audio. Only the picture is disabled.

This is a real easy and cheap mod and gives you failsafe defense when you get pulled over so I'm wondering why people are kinda indifferent about it .

My touchscreen will be mounted in the dash so it will look factory to anyone else. I just want to plan for the "What if's"
