I just had a car crash :(
Last night i was driving on a 3 lane freeway and i drove around the corner into the right lane and hit something (oil patch dont know) and my car started to skid from left to right and i was gonna hit the car infront so i had to put my brakes on and i started to do a 360 hit the concreate gards in the middle of the highway bounces up and slid into 3 lanes of oncomming traffic on the other side of the freeway.
So i slid did 3 360 spins then slid onto the oncomming traffic and missed them by less than a foot
I had my carpc in the car for gps to get to a friends place and i wasnt looking at it so thats not why i crasked but the LCD was just sitting in the drivers seat it wasn't hooked onto anything.
The LCD had slid right against the door and stuck between the seat and door and my carputer had cut itself off but thats cause the engine stoped.
So i had to get out in the middle of traffic with people driving around the cr yelling d*ck head ya ya and had to pop the boot to push the petrol shut off switch.
My car was basiclly unscratched my rim on the fron had ripped off and the car stearing was screwed but the car wasn't scratched.
I took it down to get checked out and the back wheel piece was bit bent and the front was really bent he spun the wheel and it didnt even spinn for a second.
So i had to get 2 rims replaced cause they were unuseable.
So guess how much for 2 rims for a probe in australia..... $1400 i said screw that it's cheaper to buy new wheels so i brought some new wheels for $880 with my old tires fitted.
Now i have to get a wheel alignment on monday and then find out what has to be done to fix the steering.
So has anyone else had a CLOSE call ?
this is kinda related cause my carpc survived lol

It's hard to tell by the picture but it looks like your steering wheel got knocked clear over to the passenger (right) side during the accident! Ok, so maybe y'all drive on the wrong side of the car down your way... just thought I'd mention it! Anywho... glad that nobody was hurt... thats the part that matters. Be careful out there guys!
Later!

oooh, oooh, oooh...pick me....I was driving around the city a couple days ago to get some food inbetween classes and a z3 pops outta nowhere and hits my side.... I was in the left lane and the z3 was in the right lane. He was going fairly slow (must of been looking for street signs) when all of a sudden as I was about even with him I see him start to make a sharp left turn. I got as far over on the curb as I could and tried to speed (it is a Volvo, afterall :P) but I couldn't avoid him. I heard a thunk and my car's backend drifted left a little bit....I looked in the rear view mirror and couldn't believe my eyes.... (see the attachments)
Luckly my carpc wasn't installed and compared to the poor guy with the z3, I thought I got off kind of lucky....until I realized that the chances of my car being "totaled" was about 99.99% So yeah...RIP 240mp3 v1...I never thought it was finished enough to post a thread in the showoff forum, but now it is...so here's the only good picture of my setup just for laughs....
Sorry if this seems like I'm thread jacking...not trying to....and I guess it qualifies as a "close" call because I'm still driving this monster of a car days after this accident, and my carpc is still in one piece. :P

Not a thread hijack at all thats what i want to hear
I thought your car looked a bit bad then i saw the BMW lol damn poor guy but its his fault least your safe.
I like the placement of the LCD very good job looks nice
So is your car totaled? or will they try to fix it? its a old car so there's a chance they might write it off
aslong as everyone is safe is all that matters.
My car cost a damn lot and im still paying it off but its a car it can be fixed hitting someone isnt shuch a easy thing to fix
I'm off to read your storys spaghetti
[edit] it's liked to this thread lol [/edit]

Yeah it surprised me at first too...cept the BMW gets fixed and the Volvo gets totaled. (assuming for now) I keep getting different information from people, but hopefully I'll get to keep my car and get some money to be put towards a slightly newer car and the "dent" will be my excuse to learn to weld. Either way I'll probally have a few choice words/questions for the insurance people when they call me with the "estimate" in a few days.
Important thing though is that none of us in this thread have had any injuries from these scares, minus Spaghetti....who seems to have been victim to a good bump on the head and now he thinks he's NiN. (Link leads to this thread )

Volvo is a strong car. I saw an accident one time, another car (don't remember the brand), ran right into a Volvo's side panel and door. The engine fell down on the other car, but the Volvo only had it's door bent. Volvo's driver didn't even had a scratch, but the other car's driver had to be rushed to the hospital. In terms of safety, Volvo rules.

Yeh, that's what I hear. Someone in a Jeep ran into the volvo and wrecked his car, and the volvo didn't even suffer frame damage

The way i see the old Volvo's is they were built for safety not style hehe
they could hit a light pole and the light pole would be worse off than the volvo
Oh well off to see how much the frame for the wheels are bent and how much it will cost me.

Nope, its not generally normal but I see it as a good thing. The important thing in such a situation is that you dont panic.
I have seen poeple (including myself) been involved in an accident, they got in such a scare that they tend to do silly things without knowing. My very first accident was with a big lorry carrying 40 foot container. Its been 3 months when I passed my driving test, my first car too. I was stationary at the round-about when this lorry hit my car...on my side. The front driver side of the car was in the mess. Only if the car was 1 meter forward more then I dont think Ill be alive.
I was so angry when I realised I been hit, then I though I could have died there and kinda start shaking. In a panic...for some reason I tried to move the car forward without thinking about the incoming traffic...and heck another car nearly hit me and this time it would have been my fault.
The last time was 4 month ago, its not really a car accident but it was more of an attack. This time I was lost so I stopped by a dead end to look at the map. As I try to work out which way I should go I saw 3-4 guys behind my car all hooded up, I cant really see who they are as it is about 1am.
They went around the front of the car and start banging on the bonnet with their fist. I though oh ok maybe Im not so welcome here, I started the engine and start to reverse out of the dead end. As I got further they started to bang the side of the car, I realised this poeple are bad and I knew I better start reversing faster. I got further away but this time one pick up a brick and throw it out me...missed. Another was thrown and hit the bumper. By then I was reversing at max. As I got closer out of the dead end another brick was thrown at me, BANG hit the windscreen...I thought **** this isnt even my car.
I evently got out of the dead end and drove forward into the main road. The GF was well shaken...she asked me why I was kinda happy?
I said...thats because I though I handled the situation without a panic and I did what I had to do to get out of the danger.
The point Im making is that the more you get into those situation the calmer you become...not saying you should look around for danger to practice
