Heat insulation

I have my set up in the console area and just today I realized
that there is a duct where I have my setup.
It was good for summer time, but not so good when I turn on the heater.

I am looking for insulation sheet or something I can put over
the duct. I see lot of sound deadening sheet with aluminum,
would that work for heat also? I could not really find anything for heat.
I have limited space in the console so the insulation can't be too thick.

Any suggestions?

I don't think you'll have any problems...

ummm... metal is a great conductor of heat, alloys make up superconductors. Putting a sheet of aluminium will aid with the heat transfer, making it worse. I wouldn't of thought you would have had a problem, but if you are really worried the only way is to redirect the heat. Either cut the duct short, or add to it and channel the airflow away. You could try something like a small piece of loft insulation or pipe lagging, but I doubt it will help that much.

That is a good point, I don't know what I was thinking... I guess I wasn't.

After thinking for a little more, I may put a sheet of foam insulation kind like plumbing pipe insulation. It may not help much or may not need at all, but that will make me feel better.

Thanks guys for replys.
