Well there are quiet a few mp3cars on Australian road... I know at least two in Sydney ( my and friend of mine) and there are some in other big cities.
Regarding opening our own BB... Well i dont think I'll ever leave this place as this is the oldest and best source of information and quiet frankly I feel like at home here... but what I would want to see is the some of the oldest Aussie members (inmytree, snakebite, ect) of this board reterning here.

Never had the idea of making my own BB to host a forum, I could never compete with this place, but did want some local email addy's, might be able to hook up some supply connections. Im in melb at the moment but am moving up to canberra soon, so sydney isnt that far out of my range after that.

Well My system isnt up yet, I need a car, but in my room its all good. Up and running, now im in the process of designing my own keyboard buttons to sit in the dash (when I get one).

But anyone that wants to source parts in Australia drop me aline and lets get some supply lines happening

I built myself the UIR interface. It is identical to the IR-Man and all you need is a PIC-12C509 programmer to make one. You can build a PIC programmer for $10 and the UIR for about $15. If you cant find the UIR link I'll track it down and post it for you. If you search for UIR here you should find the link. I have posted it a couple of times before.

You had a VL from memory didnt you Hornet? My player is working except I havent Installed the DVD drive and I'm waiting on an TFT when finances allow. Which should be soon. I have a character LCD going for MP3s though. I havent got it in my car yet which is a VB by the way

That also reminds me check out http://www.gpss.co.uk/ for GPS software. Apparently there are some maps out there of Australian cities available for download(there are some links on the site). The software is also free if you fill out the guys survey and you can make it talk.

Another thing. It has taken me a long time to get to the point where my player is ready to go into a car(well over a year). Some of this time was getting finances together, some was lack of motivation but most was trying to track down the bits I need. It is so difficult to find the right sort of components that are suitable for an mp3 player here. What we need is somebody to start up a small company importing this stuff. The down side is I doubt it would be profitable with the number of people building players here
