Anyone done this

Hi,

I have gates to get into my drive that are opened via a remote control.

I thought what would be good is if I could attach some kind of USB device that would send out the required signal that could be operated via thetouchscreen.

I know the signal is 315mhz, but not much more that that yet.

Anyone know anything about anything on this subject ???

Cheers,

Matt

You might be better off with something like this.

Why not take apart your current transmitter and wire up a little something through your serial port?

Whoa... I can't help you with your idea, but how about you hook it into the gps. Get within a few yards of your drive and it triggers the opener. That would be sick.

All you would need is a relay wired to your current transmitter controlled by your serial port that would simluate the button press. Or you could just tape the button down and wire the batter inline with the relay so that when the relay closes the remote recieves power from it's battery and send the signal. Many ways to do this.
