Hmmm... lets see.... I've been working on NaviVoice for about 100 hours now, and at a rate of $10 that would be $1000. So subtracting my donations, that means I'm down $900

I supposed if I added in all the R&D I have put in, I have been trying out new isntalls with different computers and components for about 2 years. I have had well over 7 different computers installed, 5 different screens, 4 GPS receivers, 6 different softwares(not to include all the different versions of the softwares), I have tried a lot of diferent front ends, built my own skins, tried building my own Front end (gave up), 5 different types of keyboards, 6 different remotes, 2 diferent shutdown controllers, 2 different PSU's, countless yards of cabling.
Of course all the items I decided not to use were sold on ebay and I got the money back most of the time a little more than I actually spent. But the point is if I added all the hours up for reading about this stuff (not just on this website) and installing, at a rate of a measley $8 an hour. I would be well over $30,000. Easy
Now, dont count the time and I dont think it is that bad. There are people that spen a lot more just for building a gaming system for the home. Not nearly as usefull as a carputer if you ask me. Both hobbies by the way.

wow, I figure I'm in at around $11,000 in total components including all audio/video/pc, & then about another $10,000 in labor that YOU MUST COUNT! unless you would have been sitting around all the time just vegitating anyway...
that brings me to a total of right around $30,000 total including the vehicle...now I could have just went out & bought a used me/be s500 for that kind of money, but I'd much rather have my vehicle, & if I did get a used $30,000 benz or something then I'd just have to rip it apart & mod it anyway, which would put me well over $$$$$
now before I hear all of the coments again like, oh you have so much money & time on your hands, yada yada yada.... thast's just not true, its more a matter of prioritys, I see guys on this board building new cars all the time & complaining about the cost of this or that, but if they started with a car that was $10,000 cheaper they could afford to go nuts & still cost the same overall, or maybe less....
I respect the guy with a $2,500 car & a $2,500 system, shows were his prioritys are...

I absolutely never want to add it up. I've been throwing all my receipts in a box just in case I ever have to make an insurance claim, and I told the insurance company that it would probably be over 70K if I did. Maybe at that time I'll write a bill for installation, which is going to be thousands of hours when its done. And I could never count the time spent learning everything involved for the past 3 years because I spend almost all my "alone" time reading up on new ideas.
Yeah, I'm much better off not putting a total on it. Keeps me sane when I try to think about what else I need to buy and finish...
