No bull**** dude. I had both transmitters in my hands and both cars parked in my driveway, started wallking away and testing range, cheapo Remote Start had better range. And before you ask, YES both transmitters had fresh batteries. I wouldn't lie about something pety like this (you guys aren't my wife, ). Just because an alarm costs a ridiculous amount of money doesn't mean it's the best.

Does this unit have over rev protection? My unit does which is also DEI/Vallet 529T (I think). I hook up the TACH signal. So anytime the RPM goes around 2.1 or 2.2K, the module shutdown. And my "double safety" installation, the module already shutdown when the shifter is in gear.
At 60mph, the RPM is way pass 2.5K for most car.

Completely agree, most sale people only know how to sale (maybe).

My alarm is made by Prime (AST), which since changed to UltraStart . These alarm work really well. I installed some noname one that a co-worker bought off Ebay for $100, and it works fairly well, but the install manual sucked compared to mine. He also didn't get several features mine had. Another co-worker had one installed by Best Buy. It's a Codealarm, and it's junk. It falses all the time, and the remote doesn't always work. He got hosed for almost $500 on something I would have installed for him for $50. The installers did such a bad job on it. They left the alarm brain almost hanging, right under the drivers side dash. Just one tie-wrap holding it in. You didn't even have to look hard to see it. Any idiot thief would find it in 2 seconds.

As for my Prime/AST/UltraStart alarm, when I bought it (from a friend) it was for a manual trans. car, so as was said above, to get it to start, you had to (while it was running) pull the E-brake, tap the brake pedal, then turn off and remove your key. The engine stays running until you close your door, then it shuts off. Obviously, that makes certain you didn't leave it in gear. The alarm wiring had provision for the clutch bypass and whatnot.
My car is an auto, so I ended up switching the alarm with an auto one since the procedure was just a pain in the a$$.

I'd recommend the UltraStart alarms to anyone. The range is quite good, the remotes are nice looking. Though, they're kinda fragile. I suppose they all are. I dropped mine a couple of times and one of the crystals inside broke off the circuit board, so I had to pull it apart and re-solder it. Then I used some hot glue to keep it from happening again.

Anyway, that's just my opinion yadda yadda yadda...

Kris

Didn't have the tach sensor hooked up and didn't have the unit or wires properly secured. I kicked it, and something must have shorted...

This is huge for me because if you don't know if it's started or not what's the point of having one..

I had the one in my truck installed because that was before I did a ton of mods to my truck. I got my wife one for our anniversary ($110 off ebay) and installed it myself. It works great.

I just put an older Crimestopper RS900 in my brother's truck last week and I'm installing two RS900VII's in the coming weeks. It's really not that hard to install them as long as you take your time.

The RS900FM is discontinued and the newer RS999TW1 is supposed to be problematic.. I would try and find someone who still carries the RS900FM and then install it yourself.

FYI: When I got this for my truck it was around $400 installed but I bought it on the internet for $100 and paid $150 for the install.

Tbird, is this it?

How about the king lion RS-680 Anti-Carjack Alarm. I am seriously thinking of buying it. It costs 120 eu. Not much for a gadget like this. I only don't know about the distance between reciever and transponder.
You can buy it here it here

I can't imagine a starter for a carb'd engine. The carb must be primed, or accelerator pushed somewhat before an engine will start, that's why they'll only work on FI engines.
But hey...I could be wrong
