Ultimate Car Computer Vehicle
Brand new here and in the market for a new (used) car to build my car computer project. In your opinion, what is the ultimate vehicle for installing a car computer? I'm leaning towards an SUV because of size - possibly an Explorer or Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokee because of popularity (easy to find parts/accessories). The Explorer is like the station wagon of today - there's a million used ones for sale and parts are plentiful. You can buy new stereo bezels for $25, for example.
So, what do you think is the ultimate car computer project car? And why?

2003 or later Tahoe/Suburban. Plenty of room for everything, plus CANBUS if I recall correctly.

Is this for a show car or for personal use? If its for personal use, I would go for a BMW cause the i-Bus has been hacked.

Full size van.
Enough room for batteries, accessories, big screens, and enough folks to enjoy it.

In my opinion..95 Honda Civic EX Coupe so the PC can run the Hondata ECU Tuning System! But A SUV Would be best, cause you can get 7.1 Suround Sound, and fit a huge fold down screen.

I wouldn't design the car around the computer. Design the computer around the car. Get whatever car you like - then integrate the computer to do things that nobody has ever done with that particular car. That's the fun part of this whole thing.

And the whole ship is driven with an NES Advantage controller.

I agree, completely. I also wouldn't mind having a BMW with a carputer.

well...to break the chain of people not promoting their own cars as suitable...
go with a slightly rusting 1986 Volvo 740 GLE Gray, tan pleather interior.
Benefits for CarPC: Decent room behind stereo unit (with the exception of HD, my whole unit is in there), sound quality for stock is great, The alternator is huge, all around pimp.
