Define "Best" as it relates to YOU...what are you looking for? I like my M10000, but only because it does what I want.

Run Frodoplayer and centrafuse. Have good sound quality. Play Divx and dvd's. Stable stable stable. Run very cool. Small. I want to make a case to fit in my glove box. If I could play need for speed underground 1 and tony hawk 4 that would be a plus, but not a need. Thanks all.

its just like gospeedracer wrote. the "best one" is up to you. It depens on what HW features you expect from your mobo.

Can the M10000 run XP and play DIVX smoothly with 256 or 512 ram?

Mine runs smoothly except at the very beginning, or when you try to skip ahead...it will lag a bit and be choppy for a few seconds. Doesnt bother me, but if it did I am sure there are some tweaks to make it smoother...I havent done any system tweaks to free up resources either. The M10000 board is not by any means the best board for performance, but as far as ease of use, size, and running cool, it is my favorite. If you had more room and didnt mind buying higher amp power supplies, and didnt care about the heat, I would say go for a different board.

I have an Nforce 2 board with a 2400+m CPU in it right now
(It's for sale on ebay! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMESE%3AIT)
Runs Great but is too big. I want to have it all fit in my glove box. I run it at 1Ghz but would it be comprable to the 1Ghz VIA CPU? Hows the on board graphics? The Nforce GPU works well. I can play Tony Hawk 4!

I would rate a Via at 1ghz to be close to an intel at 600mhz. Very much like how an AMD can do more per clock, so they are "under rated", a Via is the opposite. Their number is higher than what they "feel" like.

After reading the specs and reviews on the via boards I have decided that the EPIA MII 12000 is the way to go. Any opinions on this board? THanks all.

I have the M10000 and the MII12000, have run the M10000 in the car for a while and am redoing the entire project, this time around, with the MII12000.....
so far....I haven't noticed a difference between the two really....
running the same stick of memory (512) in the MII12000 as I did in the M10000, just took it out of the M10000 and put it in the MII12000
as for sound quality....both have the same codec don't they? I would imagine if you were to plug it into a factory system it would be fine, but if you have any aftermarket stereo equipment I would look into a better sound card (for the better quality and higher output voltage as well). As for video....chances are you will be watching dvds on a 7" screen....the video doens't need to be all that amazing to get a good picture on a 7" screen....I've noticed a bit of granulation with the M10000 onboard video....but , again, it's on a 7" monitor in my dash...it's not like I'm going to be spending an awaful lot of time staring at it while I'm driving....and for passangers....I don't think they will care....as long as they have something to watch...lol
just my $.02 worth
and I will agree with everyone else, what's BEST for one person is the WORST for other people....only you can make that decision
