That gives ya almost 4 months to go get some leathers ... we got a riding school on the saturday of almost every race weekend, and I'm about 100% sure there's one that saturday. So get some leathers, go to www.cmraracing.com or e-mail chris -- chris@racetex.com -- to get signed up for the school, then just be at TWS by 6:00 on the 23rd. We'll get ya on the track, and if ya pass the school, you can actually get in on the racing when we come back to college station in july.
yeah, thing is that I just can't swing the money for leathers right now nor can I risk going down on the bike while in school as it would put me out of a ride for my classes this next semester not to mention the costs of getting the bike fixed...I've been out to the races MANY times....I actually worked the track on a regular basis for the automotive races, been out to see the CMRA races a few times as well.....just not in the cards right now.....maybe once summer comes around and I will be working full time till I graduate, then it will be possible....that and I KNOW that monte (my boyfriend) would want to do teh track day at the same time.....I know it would just kill him to see me out there and him not be able to....for the same reasons I stated above....a track day WILL happen....we actually plan on keeping my 750 sport and turning it into a track bike once we both graduate.....and I get another bike

No RC51's? That was the only honda streetbike I ever wanted in the last 10 years (well, I lie, I had a CBR600 once, but that just came along cheap). I guess it's a tradeoff though, I hear you australians got like 35 women per man down there, right? Lucky bastards, you can't go anywhere in Dallas without being surrounded by guys.

You would be better buying you own or finding a friend who is aobut the same size.
Since your in Melb, have a look at Hangmore Motorcycle Club Might give you someone extra to ride with.
@SAScooby, the TT sounds good. I have ridden a few trumpy's and I must say that the speed tripple I rode in the US on my holiday was awesome fun. I think I'd prefer an '01 955 if I was going to buy brittish. (didn't like the later model shape)
@drait. One of my friends got his knee down by accident in jeans at a track day. He only did it once! It did leave a nice little hole in his jeans tho.

I used to ride, but I sold my bike 1 year ago..
When I was 16, i started with a 1991 Honda NSR125.. About a year later I bought a new Yamaha TW125.. Then, when I turned 18, I bought a Yamaha XT350.. Hopefully, I'll get myself an XT600 this summer...

I live in Statesboro, GA and just the other night my friends 3 month old GSX-R 600 was stolen along with 5+ more GSX-Rs. Not to mention just 3 days before he took full coverage off his bike, ****ty. So yeah **** the people that steal bikes.
On another note, lesson learned from all of this? Dont buy a bike if you dont have a good place to store it, ie. a garage.

I understand your point of view, but even though you don't like these people, you still owe them a debt of gratitude. If you're not already too ****ed by this statement, hear me out.
It is always the fringe element (read: "undesirables") that drive technology to the next level, benefitting the mainstream. For instance:
--FPS gamers are responsible for better, faster computers and graphics cards, resulting in benefits for the CAD and business users.
--Rock crawlers and off-roaders are responsible for the knowledge gained to put better suspension in your grandparents' Town Car.
--Racers are responsible for technology that squeezes every ounce of power from every drop of gas, resulting in better fuel efficiency and power in all of our vehicles.
--The motorcycle daredevils are responsible for better engineered, better balanced bikes.
So, maybe it won't hurt as bad when you have to pay your rediculously high insurance bills if you just think of them as being your continued investment in the advancement of technology.
Ah, who am I kidding? High insurance rates SUCK.

right - but not because they do it on the street.....do all teh stunts you want, just don't do it on the street....there are places to learn and hone those skills.....it's NOT on the street where you endanger yourself and everyone else.....
believe me, I understand the needs of pushing the limits, otherwise we wouldn't have the safety features we do in cars today....but, it was on a track where those safety features first became necessary and tested....not on teh streets because of some dumb *** who thinks they would look cool plastered on the pavement

If the people who do wheelies on the street have a death wish then let them have it. I'm ok with it.
