not when most times their bikes end up causing damage to other cars, not when a mother with her young kids in a car behind the dumb *** has to witness the dumb *** going down killing himself, not when as the dumb *** goes down his bike causes damage to the roads costing the taxpayers money to repair it, not when...well, I think you get the point

Right, and somewhere, somehow, some insurance company somewhere had to shell out money, probably after at least a subrigation suit, which means that the trial wasted taxpayer money, as well as our insurance premiums increase.
If anyone feels that they don't pay enough for insurance, PM me and I'll give you an address so you can send me that extra money.

I pay enough for insurance, I should say my mom does, but motorcycle insurance and car insurance are two different things.
But you still aren't looking at the brightside. Atleast the idiot is dead

Hmm.. not really.. they wanted to charge me $3000/yr for full coverage on a 1999 CBR 600.. which is more than I pay for my 03 Mustang GT w/ full coverage!

Sucks to be you. But also, motorcycles are much easier to steal, and that's a huge part of your premium.

Tis true that they may easier to steal.. but when the insurance company tells me that the premium is so high because of the "type" of bike it is, that is a completely different story.
Speaking of bikes, it's a fairly decent day out so I'm going for a ride. Peace.

No joke! Lat year Progessive re-classified my Ducati from a 'Sports Motocycle' to a 'Race Motorcycle' and jumped my rate from $340 year to over $3,000 a year! That was after 2 years of flawless riding (no tickets, no claims) and no changes to the bike itself!
Freak'n nuts!

Well, here in Belgium, almost noone takes full coverage for the bike, as you pay a new bike each 2 years or something...

I doubt you'll find a new bike in that price range, and you'd **** a brick if you dropped that brand new bike, or anything happened to it. For a first bike go with something used.
You can definitely find something pre-owned that's decent in that price range. I shelled out $6000 for my 99 CBR600 F4 w/ 3000 miles, the guy's helmet, and a cover. Perhaps a bit more than I would have liked to pay, but I feel I got my money's worth, and the bike was mint.
I don't know if you have your license yet, but you might want to check out one of those MSF "Basic Rider Courses." In NY it's a 2.5 day course, with .5 day classroom and 2 days of riding. You don't have to ever have ridden before, so they go over the basics, get you on the bike, and teach you safety as well. At the end of the course you have two chances to pass a skills test; if you pass, you don't have to take the DMV road test - so you don't have to go through the hassle of DMV scheduling, arranging for a bike, etc. and they mail you a road test waiver. Then go to the DMV office with the road test waiver and your permit, and trade it in for your license. I believe runs ~$350 or so, but IMO it's well worth the investment and will get you on your way properly.
Find a rider course here: http://www.msf-usa.org/

O - and if I'm not mistaken, it's also good for a 10% insurance discount.

Ok maybe it's just me but the MSRP on the bikes I've been looking at have range from 6,000-7900. Now I don't know about you but you never pay msrp in retail. As far as used bikes it seems liek most of the bikes I've seen used tend to break down perhaps it was just my step brothers older 94 though.
Never ridden a street bike so I do not have my license I did plan to take the safety course and I think it might be required now a days but I could be wrong.
