Question DVD Rip??

Is there an easy way to take an audio snippet from a DVD? I don't want to rip the entire DVD to my hard drive just for a $15 second snippet.

I recorded the Pats/Coltws game as two files (first half and second half). Each files is about 3.5 Gb. I'd like to chop out the commercials, merge the two files and save it small enough to fit on a single DVD. What's the best program for this? Windows Movie Maker 2.1 doesn't like files that big and wont make clips.

Thanks.

TMpegEnc was the program I was using for a while. I don't know if its "readily" available for free anymore. Also VCDeasy was the other program I was using. I'm not entirely sure what each one does anymore.

Right now, I am using DVDx, but I don't know if thats just for ripping dvds, or if it has editing capability.

For the audio snippet...I would do as kiltjim suggested and load it into tmpgenc and demux the audio and video. From there take your favorite audio editor and chop the portion you want.

As for the cutting commercials...I would probably use tmpgenc too. I haven't done anything like that in a while so there might be better tools out, but when I was ripping and video editing it's what I used.
