EPIA M10000 and Sony CDX CA900 Sound Trouble

Hey,

Just ran a standard jack to phono lead to my stereo and the sound is rediculous!!! If you turn the volume up on both the head unit and pc you can just about make a little bit of noise out. The cable simply goes from the standard jack out of the sound card and into a phono connector on the back of the head unit. Am I doing something wrong or missing something. I bought a ground loop isolator too just incase and it's even worse with that in.

Thanks in advance,

Paul.

Have you tested the soundcard on normal PC speakers?

Verify AC97 setup. There is a few way to configure connections on the sound card. Make sure you are configured for and are using Line Out. This should go into the Aux RCAs on the back of the Sony.

Test the LineOut jack with another Aux device (house stereo, boombox, etc)

You are using a standard Stereo Mini-Din to RCA cable? Have you tried picking up another cable to test?

You aren't by any chance trying to go RCA to RCA via the SPDif port? If so, the Sony Aux are not SPdif ports, so you can't do it that way. You need a Stereo mini-din to RCA "adapter cable" to go from the Lineout to the aux RCAs.

TheJack: Hmm, I've been kicking myself the past 3 hours, turns out after a quick test with the ipod, i'd got the RCA lead plugged into the wrong sockets!!! OMG!!! At least it's working absolutly perfect now!!!

Thanks, Paul.

HAHA, its verry easy to have that happen. ive done it before and then another time the cable was just coming out a lil bit and made all the engine noise go into the audio.
