UK Folks: Article on speed monitoring

In-car spy best to curb speeding drivers

DRIVERS who persistently break the speed limit should be forced to fit electronic tracking devices to their cars that would detect speeding, the RAC says in a report published today....

Also touches on GPS taxation-by-the-mile.

Oh boy, why not just pass law that required car manufacturers to limit the speed. If the car pass certain speed, cut the fuel. Most/all car already has that build in.

Because then they couldn't make big bucks (big quid) on the fines. Speed/red light cameras and similar devices are more to increase revenue than reduce violations.

******* cops here make £££££'s on fines. Yeah there's been also talk of taxing cars by the mile, with ALL cars fitted with gps devices!!! Yeah, like anyone would go for that.....
Cops have a new type of camera here now anyway. I think it's called SPECS cameras. Basically, a camera with number plate recognition will take your photo at one end of a road, then take it again further down. They don't even have to catch you speeding, but they can work out your average speed between the camera's and bust you that way. Very sneaky.

Oh yeah, and of course:
Who's got an eye on you? Secret cameras are everywhere.

"And, buoyed by the success of a surveillance program at crime-plagued MacArthur Park west of downtown, the LAPD recently unveiled a camera system capable of scanning thousands of license plates per hour and employing controversial facial-recognition software to pinpoint known criminals."

What would happen if you covered up that antenna in aluminum foil? Wouldn't the goverment just think you took your car for a cold dip?

Yes, we already heard this one.

I won't cover my GPS in foil because I'm afraid it would cause a psycho-magnetic crossover with my stylin' shiny collander hat.

Ha.

Ha.

Ha.

After all, I am just pulling all this out of my ***. Pay no mind.
