Post Controlling an MP3 system with an iPaq

Slashdot is running a story linking to a review on tinytechnews.com about controlling an MP3 player/system with a Compaq iPaq. Not for everybody... just a heads-up...

I haven't read the article, so don't blame me for that.

.
I had a presentation last week from the people of compaq, concerning the IPaq.
Code:
(the company I work for wants to equip all of its mechanics with an IPaq, where they will get their work orders, and they can give feedback through the IPaq about what they've done on a certain job. They all will be equiped with the GPRS (always-on) Jacket, which will establisch a continious connection with the Citrix-Server that will run the applications. (Compaq has developed an ICA-Client that will run on the IPaq) You pay for all the KB that has been send by the IPaq

Anyway.
In that presentation, the people off compaq where introducing all the new 'goodies' which are available.
Including 1g & 2g 'Hard-Drives'
These where the kind of 'memory-sticks' That you put on a special pcmcia-card and just slide it in the IPaq.

I'm sure that, in the short future, these 'Hard-disks' will become much cheaper, and bigger. So maybe YES, you could use this thing for an mobile mp3-player.

I've listenend to the IPaq, and must say that the sound-quality isn't bad at all, But I think that my desktop sounds better.
(maybe this will get improved, when Compaq notices the Audio is being used a lot)

One thing I like about the IPaq, is the very clear screen..

It was a funny thing.. standing in the middle of the parking lot. Running the Citrix Client, which connected to the Citrix Server (with ADSL). Surfing the Web...

Now my job is to take an existing application (which is designed for 800*600)
and take it/ shrink it/ whatever-it
To get an good application on the IPaq's screen (240*320, but you can determine yourself wheter you want to view it PORTRAIT or LANDSCPAPE.. the IPaq has software for it)
Without to much scrolling, page-chaging or whatever....

Seems like I will be playing a lot with that thing.

I'm sure I can get a hold of at least one of these things. (we need 200 of them in the pilot-project)

Sorry Guys for the long post,
Just wanted to share my experiences with the IPAQ

Greetz
