Drivesoft! Oh boy..

Long time since I visited this site.. But I just couldnt resist sharing this. I happen to run a mazda6 forum (clubatenza.com), and natually, there is a thread for my carputter setup. Now take a look at the comment I got just recently from a Drivesoft employee:

My original comment, which generated the reply below:
Quote:
Drivesoft.. lol! All it takes is one episode on mtv and everybody is talking. Their software is *not* very good at all, it lacks most advanced features, it's unfinished and overall has a poor presentation. For other options check out mediacar/frodoplayer/and many others at mp3car.com

Alright, maybe the **'s shouldnt be there, but I was under heavy new FrodoPlayer release influence!

That is nice size balls you have mister IG. When I bet you have never tried our NOT so good software that has been download over 18000 times. I bet you don’t tell people about support issues with the other players. Oh Wait I am sorry you would not have support issues with the others because know one has them other then some people in forums like this. You just ****ed because we charge a few dollars for a software product that is solid as hell and you like things free. Free is nice but it don’t mean it’s junk if it’s not free if fact when you pay for something that generally means it better. As far as not finished "WTF" it has been done over a year ago and the Full version that we do not sell have been on the market for 4 years Completed. You need to get a new newspaper buddy because all your info I out dated. I f you have the software and I knew who you were and you had reason to say something I would respect your opinion but I know from your comments you have never seen are used it in person. And as far as MTV. That did not mean anything to us. But the car of car audio mag and the 2004 award for best new product and 1 of the most requested unit in 2004 as per car audio mag says something to all the people you feed your **** to. We were putting industrial car pc's in police cars and casino busses etc before you even new what is was are any of the other smoke you’re blowing out your ***. Were you doing this since 1995 "NOT" so what make you the big expert here? Nothing that’s what "silence". You read forums and repeat **** you hear with out any prior knowledge of it your self. What about telling the reader who this month march 7, 8 Intel will be using our car and our software with our new PDA link to control car and home real time via wifi to the computer show in California.

You have known idea the size of what is going on at drivesoft. I am only one late night tech guy out of the 38 people we have. I am just reading forums because I am board. Why you ask? Because I never get support call. That’s why. I do not even know why I am here. The software is solid and easy enough that my mom can use it. I thought that’s why PC's were created to make out life and work more simple and efficient that’s what our Drivesoft software dose for people.

I almost forgot to comment on your install such as you did on drivesoft. The box you made is terrible. And your install was bad as well and I can say it since I do know installation and fabrication. Installer of 16 years myself. It probably sound s like crap because you were to focused on the neon light in the case which in the car audio world is out dated as the fu--k.

I also would not have a LCD sticking up on my dash. Why you did not molding it in Super stud

Then you were stupid enough o wrap it in carpet. Static electricity "num-nuts" not to mention the carpet fibers falling into the MB because you have a pc card and CF slot on the back that is know the gather dust and now your carpet will be there too.
And what’s up with the super cooling turbo fans cooling off and mother board the was design for low power and keeping cool without any fans mister "snowman". A/C don’t work or something? Any more fans you will need to move to the jet powered car forums. O sorry I did not realize you build it out of wood which has no heat absorption and then you seal the ******* thing like you were building a sub woofer box so I guess you did need fans "mister super breeze"

What about the touch screen on your dash the has no back support. Not smart. Touch screen with out support how long before your add more of that carpenter glue to hold it. O maybe you were trying to get the most out of your screen by it also acting as one of the dancing dolls you see on people’s dash boards.

If you had more detailed picture I could go on for ever unlike you can with our software you never seen or tried

1 word for you Installer training school before you do any of your friends cars

And just to make it clear this was my person commet and not drivesoft on this last topic. I fell if people like to talk crap about others works then they should be willing to take a beating back

Looks like a joke right? I did a geo trace to the ip, and guess what.. Geographically it does match the address that Drivesoft provides on their site. Same state, very close their address, etc.

Gave me a good laugh, thought I'd share.

I'm not going to say anything bad about them.
But I can say this.... Since version 1.0, FrodoPlayer has had about
35,000 downloads.

Wow. With that type of response, I know why no one ever calls for tech support. Heck, I think that if you were one of the few people that bought their software and called, they would come to you house and remove it from car. And I don't mean just uninstall it.

Ouch.

I have actually tried their POS software, Email and they will give a demo.

They dont have visualisations...
It wont start playing music if you do a cold boot you have to go thugh like 2-5 screens.
It is verry limited settings, Resolution is preset and not resetable.

You should send his rant to drivesoft. I am sure the executives would love to see it.

RR had 1500 downloads in 20 days. I'm sure they can't match that.

Also lucky that guy doesn't have to spell for a living. I had to re-read a few parts just to make sense of it.

DS tried to come after us for mentioning their "name" on our website (search for "drivesoft" and you'll see a Dashwerks link). We told them/him that we were using their name legally per fair-use law. We sent a reply indicating our legal use of the name, and requested a cease-and-desist from their/his Attorney if they felt it was justified. To date, we haven't heard back from them - and this happened about 8 months ago.

There are numerous websites that have replies from 'Drivesoft', however, they all tend to have the same run-on grammatic signature.

I'm not knocking the Drivesoft guy/group; but we're working with one of the top installers in the country and he absolutely loathes Drivesoft and the inquiries that he gets about it.

Anyway, that's just my .02 sheckels on the matter...

Wow, that's pretty bad...not the reply (even though that's bad in a comical way), but the spelling and grammar. IF I decided to insult somebody, I'd at least take the time to write it out in a very clear, and understandable dialogue.
