Control panel crashes explorer
Every time I try to run the control panel, explorer crashes. I copied the control.exe from another computer and ran it and the same thing happened. Anyone ever had this problem and know how to fix it without reformatting?

Another option: Open C:\windows\system32, switch to detailed view, sort by type, and go down to the .cpl (Control Panel extension) files, and double-click to open each one. If it crashes, that's the problem. Look at the properties to find out what it goes with, then delete it. It's probably something you recently installed.

Thanks. I fixed it already though. I finally found a page explaining what you just mentiopned. That was the problem. I had a bad .cpl file. So I fixed it on my way to work. LOL. Thats the only good thing about traffic.

As this is a car computer board, the first thing I thought of when I saw the title of the thread was that somehow, your control panel had caused your Ford Explorer to crash.
I think I need to get out more.

If I had a Ford, I could only be so lucky. LOL.
