Question Small enclosure subwoofers

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone can help me pick subwoofers for me. They need to be dual voice coil/ or have a 2Ohm impedance +/- 300Watt RMS and they should need a enclosure thats as little as possible. I've been looking at pioneers TS-W254DVC (specs), are these any good? I don't want toospend like $600 dollar orso, I need 2 subs?

Your advice please?

hey marsjell,
Generally, Pioneer subs are not highly regarded. I'm not sure what your budget is for subs you just said under $600...If your budget is decent, check out Illusion Audio subs. The mounting depth on them is like 3". They are some of the best SQ subs around. If the budget isn't up to those, take a look at Image Dynamics IDQs, Infinity Perfects, Infinity Kappa, MTX 6000 series, Alpine type S or type R. There are a lot of subs around the $100-$125 range that are pretty comparable. I would go listen to them side by side at a local audio shop if I were you.

Boston acoustic makes a 12" pro series sub in a single voice coil 2 ohm version and it only requires 1 cubic foot enclosure! I have the 4 ohm version and it sounds great...

hi, listening to the subs would be best, but most small enclosure subs (0,8 -1,2 cubic foot) aren't available here in europe... well.. maybe I just can't find them..
I can't get the pioneers, that bothers me as I used to have a pioneer sub which I liked very much...

Yes, I highly reccomend the Image Dynamics IDQ series. They have amazing SQ and the recommended enclosure size is .33-.66 cubic feet.

I've got 2 10" IDQs and a nice Autotek 500watt amp, and I couldn't be happier

IDQ's are a very good bang for the buck sub. Another I forgot is the Adire Shiva. These are very highly regarded and not too expensive. http://www.ampmanaudio.com sells them
