how do you hide your wires

after a long time, i finally got my computer installed in the car. Its a 92 nissan 240sx SE. But i cant figure out how to hide the wires (probably the lack of creativity on my part)

Up front everything is hidden and wires are run under the carpet, but when the get to the trunk, its a mess in there as i have wires going in and out of my car pc all over the place. ill try to get to take a picture later today.

I just need some tips on how to hide the wires in the trunk and how you guys are securing the computer cases in the trunk. I made my case out of an old star trek aluminum case but its just lying there in the trunk not secured down to anything.

any help is appreciated

Get some of this: http://www.allelectronics.com/matrix...om_Tubing.html
Plastic tube with a split down the side, you just spread the split open a bit and slip the wires into it, then let it close. Keeps everything tidied up nicely.
My case is being mounted to a metal plate that I'm suspending from the underside of my rear deck using some L-shaped brackets. Once I get everything in place (probably after this weekend) I'll post in the Show Off Your Project forum.

You can also cut a slit in the carpet in the trunk and run your wires through the slit in the trunk to minimize how much of it is exposed.

Me, I just put the wires wherever, then put a bunch of bondo over them. It doesn't look super great on the carpet, but I painted the bondo to be the same grey as the rug in the car.

tee hee

you need one of these...

ignore all the other crap in the boot... lol

and there's space in both sides on that box, next to the sub.. the sub box isn't the full width of the car... should be plenty of space for a carputer

Try a hardware store, I don't think WalMart or Radio Shack will have it.

Radio Shack generally carries loom tubing, at least the ones around here do. As usual, you'll pay a little more for it if you get it from there. I picked some up at Home Depot for about half the price.

Yeah, I was joking. I'm a bit surprised it took this long for someone to catch it!

Indeed they do, just went to Radio Shack today and found where they were hiding it. It is fairly expensive for a pretty short length of it though.

noone likes my suggestion? if you don't have a sub, then make the box smaller, and just use it to mount the carputer in.... what else are you going to do with the computer case?

there is always trouble with hiding your wires, there is always the temptation to run them all in the one cable holder - dont run power with RCAS!!!
