Which front ends support built in crossovers?

I am looking for a front end to a carPC that can use multiple outputs. Specificly I want to be able to use my 3 pairs of outputs to setup a fully active front stage. To do this I need to be able to setup crossover points and slopes. Time delay and 31 band eq would also be very helpful.

hmmm. i think the best way for that is to get a hardware crossover. Nothing I know of other than a SB Audigy has a crossover *and its only on the low frequency port*

You mean to tell me none of the front ends are designed with basic car audio tuning ability? Is this going to be fixed in the future?

Yes, that's exactly what you're being told.

As for correcting the problem, are you the one witht he mad coding skills to filter frequencies out of a raw waveform and pipe them to a specific set of outputs?
If you are, then you need to talk to the authors of the frontends....

It seems that a lot of people who are building carputers are more car guys then audio guys. If this idea is going to continue to grow I think there will need to be a meeting of the minds. I am not a programer but I know cars, audio, and computers. Do you think that the designers of these programs would be able to modify their s/w to do this or use audio plugins that could do this? Is it possible for them to incorporate bruteFIR with a GUI?

There's some plugins for Winamp that do the types of things you're looking for.

Theres a 10band EQ I use called 4front as a plugin for winamp. Its not exactly what you are looking for, but that, paired with an audigy 2zs adds to some awesome sound. But then again I bought MB Quart speakers, so ofcourse they will sound good. I will eventually be setting up a 6.1 setup in my car, but thats offtopic. To answer your question: No, and I doubt we will be seeing anything within a year.

Might be a place to start. To really tune a car you really need a 7 band or more parametric eq or 31 band graphic.

That brute fir program looks pretty powerful. However it looks too complex, and of course is linux only.

I'd rather see one of the manufacturers make a simple, PC controllable standalone crossover and eq, with 5.1 of course. The only input it would need is power and USB, and an extra rca input, toslink input, and coax, but sound from the PC would come via usb and would install in windows as a usb sound card. It would output 6 channels at 9 volts, balanced. It would ship with a fully featured program for xp to configure your crossovers, eqs, time alignment, etc. The program of course would be skinable and designed for small touch monitors. I bet every one of us would buy it!

edit: looks like Zapco is already doing it...

Alpine PXA-H700/701. Who knows when the Zapco unit will be out. And I don't think its computer controller.
