I'd start molding in the screen first. So get that first. I'd go with a Xenarc because it will give you less problems down the road. Buy from the place were they are made if you want to save some $$$. Buying from Xenarc will just give you a warranty, a warranty that will be void the second you open it up.

when you buy the dash piece, it'll probably be best to find a piece that is for the nav unit.

Things that you may want to consider:

character vfd/lcd display-- just a cool thing to have if you want to display info from centrafuse like track titles (eventually nav info). they are easily mountable and just cool

griffen powermate, do a

micro keyboard -- do a search on this too. the one ihave is meant to be mounted on an x-box controller, it's usb and tiny

optima deep cycle battery-- peace of mind

sub and amp!

also take a look at my post about cool/unusual devices for some more ideas; really with a car pc, the sky is the limit

Ok so start off with getting a new bezel to mount the monitor? scott_fx I think I saw in one of your threads you have a display on you rear view mear is this what you mean by (character vfd/lcd display-- just a cool thing to have if you want to display info from centrafuse like track titles (eventually nav info). they are easily mountable and just cool) sorry dont know how to quote yet. Then all the other stuff I will just search for on the internet. So so far here is what I need please tell me if I am missing anything:
1.)Nav dash piece for my car
2.)griffen powermate
3.)character vfd/lcd display ???
4.)micro keyboard
5.)optima deep cycle battery
I already have a sub and amp so I am ok with that. The thing I am scared to do is if I do order the navagation dash how do I mount the screen into it? Also all the wiring stuff is gonna be all new stuff to me. But dont worry I am ready to learn how to do all this stuff, heck I'm 20 years old I should already know. Thanks agian guys I really appreciate it

m1-atx i got from here, great service
i got the epia board from fry's becuase it was a last minute thing. i'd get that from here as well though. hd got from fry's, dvd-rom from newegg. gps antenna i got from my rooomate and xmd box from buy.com

character vfd is still waiting to be built but i got that from ebay. i dont have a griffen powermate i am going to use a detatchable faceplate for my controls.

also depending on where you mount your mobo you may need a usb to ide adapter if your dvd drive is going to be far from your computer.

Dude, you have taken the first step, and come to the right place to get all the info.

I hate to do this, but, you gotta learn. You gotta learn the , live the , be the .

If you search on these forums you will find everything you will need to know about the list you have been given. The posts will often times have reviews, pros and cons, and places to buy these things.

Buying from MP3Car is always a good option. The service is great, and it helps support this site. But certainly, if you can save money, no one will fault you for buying elsewhere. You will quickly learn that most people here are, shall we say Frugal.

In the least, once you have the name of the product, you can search the web using to find places that sell the items. You can also use googles search called frugal (It is right above the google search box) to find prices and places to buy.

While I am no expert at the computer thing, I am pretty good with wiring a car up. Been doin it for years. If and when we have your install day, I will do my best to attend, and help out.

Goodluck. And, if after searching, you still have questions, we will all be happy to help.

Also, you might want to take a look in the Newb section of the forums. It is a great way to start.
