Damn it sure is. An 8" TS would look great in that dash.
Its really not that hard to pull seats and carpet out so don't worry about the difficulty involved in wiring from the front to the back. If you can rip apart your dash I'm sure you can handle the carpet. I also think you could find a compartment in the back to put a full size micro atx. But if not the small epia or whatever its called that everyone uses will work. Check out RANDO's install in his SUV. I think the magnum has some compartments like his that you can use. Then you wouldnt be sacraficing your glove box. If they try to talk you out of the 8" screen, I wouldnt listen. And for the record, I have an *' Lilli and havnt had a single problem. I think it was mainly the 7" ones that were problematic. I'm in the 909 too so if there is another install meat I can be there. My truck is getting painted though, so I can't bring it this time. Which means I'll have more time to help everyone put their cars together. Now that I think of it, maybe I'll host a meat and we can all put my truck back together when its done getting painted. I'll think about it.

DON'T GET AN 8" SCREEN!

actually get what you want, i prefer the look of the 7" becuase it looks more 'oem' in my eyes. one advantage of the xenarc is if you are going with a rearview cam it will detect the signal when the camera is turned on and switch the input automatically. all you would need is a relay running from your reverse lights and you're done.

now, what would be trick would be to find someone that has a busted nav unit, disect it, and take advantage of all those buttons then throw in a touchscreen xenarc (or lilli) and you'll have one of the nicest installs of the bunch.

nope, not easily. i would put some pushbutton switches behind them (or see if it would be easy to solder onto the contacts) and wire it to a keyboard emulator. take that and map the buttons to the corresponding actions within centrafuse which is hot-keyable..

well yeah...i'm pretty sick right now so i'm not thinking straight. you can probably hack into the buttons and integrate them without a huge fuss, but finding a busted nav unit will be hard to find and most likely expensive

I think the prius uses an 8" screen. I think the 8" lilli has a better resolution.

The stock nav's screen looks too small.

So I have the bezel ordered, and I am going to wait til I get that, and measure to see what size screen should go in there. I really hope its bigger then 5' like you guys are saying. After that its the fabrication process. You guys better be ready for some intense Q&A while I am reconstructing that bezel because I dont know where to start, I am just thinking about duct tapin the screen into bezel. But thanks again for everybodys input I will get this thing done, whether it be 3 months or 3 years. It will get done.

he was just stating that the screen in the stock nav unit is 5.6" but the opening is a lot bigger so you dont have to worry. you can most likely fit a 7 or 8 inch screen in there with out a problem.

here is the thread you really should read, altimat knows what he's talking about.

i would actually really like to try the plastic welding technique though,it seems like there would be less chance of cracking
