My car got broken into last weekend...
I was visiting a (*ahem*) food establishment late on saturday night(The Pointe off 44th and Belleview) and my car along with 4 others got broken into. I went to my car at about 1:45 AM and my back left window was broken in, and my Lilliput, checkbook, and my Soundstream Rubicon 502 were taken. The funny thing is, they left my carputer in the trunk, left my two pairs of mauii jim's, and my valentine One radar detector. They even left me with my ****ty 4ch amp that I need to replace. Too bad they didn't steal my subs too.
They left the din cable for the lilliput. If anyone has any requests for the cable from someone in Kansas City, MO let me know. I will gladly take the cable to them, along with a baseball bat
State Farm comprehensive has been great and has reimbursed me for the damage to my car, (replacement window, re tint, molding around window, and a replacement dash bezel) and as a replacement for the Rubicon 502 they gave me a JL 500/1 ! They are even sending me the remote bass controller for the amp. They are even sending me new distrobution blocks and an Install voucher! On top of all this, they purchased me a new lilliput(this time, black so it matches the dash better).
Moral of the story, the !#$%$#$ that broke into my car walked away with a 7 year old amp(which I am going to miss) and a screen that is worthless without the cable. I got a new screen, cash to cover the deductable, and a brand new amp.
I don't feel that screwed.

you know I never even thought of contacting pawn shops. I might actually try and see if it has ended up anywhere. I have one of my friends investigating the....uhhh.... lets call it our "free market" where the real value of items is realized.

the guy i work for, has crackheads and homeless people come into the store (computer repair shop) everyday with a bag or box of crap. and I mean crap, cell phones, books, chotkies etc, mostly crap but occasionally they come with stuff that Is OBVIOUSLY stolen, and my boss knows all this but he tosses them $5 for the box of crap, and he turns around and eBays it for huge profits most of the time.
point being, something that gets stolen (unless its someone u know) is never going to come back to you cuz its already changed hands most likely.
and another point is, my boss is a ****o.
off topic case and point:
kid walks in with a busted Dell laptop he bought a year ago. He sat on it and cracked the LCD and the mobo has errors now. So my boss buys it from the kid for $50. And now its my job to get it fixed, so I look up the service tage on Dells site, and this kid has until 2007 extended warranty. So my boss goes oh goody, doesnt call the kid who he chatted up like an old frend just 15 minutes ago, and gets dell to come out and fix it, and now he has a $500+ laptop for $50.
I just hate em thats all....(my boss)

After the auction ended, my friend said he wanted to pick them up. The guy wanted to meet at a public area (I wonder why), so my friend got some guys together and met the guy at a fast food place. When he arrived he confirmed they were his and loaded them up. He told the guy he is taking them because he stole them. The guy got real nervous (I think he peed his pants ) and started a few stories about how he got them from some guy ... who got them from a guy... etc. The guy's girlfriend wanted to call the cops, but obviously he didn't. In the end he got his rims back. I know my friend tried to involve the police, but I am not sure if the guy was ever arrested.

Insurance will not go up, it is comprehensive car coverage. My agent said the only way my insurance might increase is if I get jacked like 4 times in one year. If I put the claim in under home owners, there is a possibility it might go up, but that is why i have for comprehensive. I didn't have to tell them the stuff was in the car before it happened, I just had to provide receipts, and have evidence of the items being in my car(pictures of it in the car already, or pictures of where the stuff was)

Glad to hear things worked out for ya! And that's reassuring - I have State Farm, too!
Insurance is like a bucket of water. Each month you pour a couple glasses of water in. Every once in a while you take a few teaspoons out.
