New car
Well, I'm gonna sell my lincoln, screw the Brakes, I can get about 2.5k for it.
I am looking at a SUV in that pricerange.
Anyone here know anything about Isuzu Troopers? I was looking at a nice 87' one.
I've heard they hold up pretty well.

Yeah all the old troopers I've seen all had about 200,000 miles on them. I think they are pretty durrable. I also took a look at one and saw a good spot on the dash for an LCD! (But the radio would have to go)
The only thing is they are'nt very powerfull. The 4 cylinder is kinda slow....

Get a 4runner!!!! You can find a nice old one for pretty cheap. Plus they are the best offroad vehicles you find!

i have a 93 ford explorer and i love it. my top 3 choices in the SUV catagory would be the Ford Explorer, Toyota 4-Runner, and the Nissan Xterra. I gotta agree with the coolness of the 4runner, and the Xterra's are pretty sweet looking also. If you cant afford it, just get a loan. It may take a while to pay back, but if you have a good, steady, job, you will be fine. Plus, it helps you establish credit.

Dude, I'm 15, a bank would look at me and laugh. I'm selling my Lincoln, I can get about 3k at most for it, and am looking for something in that pricerange.
And never get a Ford Explorer. My family had 2, and each one had the transmission blow big time.

Im sure you can find a 92 4Runner around that price. If you want to stay around 3 grand I think the 90 and lower 4runners have soft tops. It may be 2 Doors, but take the top off and you have 2 and one giant one.
Adam, you can confirm this.
Id be careful though, save up a few more pennies and get youself something a little newer. DONT GET A LOAN, GET ANOTHER JOB! Thats if you really want something newer. You are trading in an 88 sedan for an SUV at the same price (kinda risky). Hope you find someone like me - Im only gonna sell/give my truck to a poor scrawny high school kid like I was (well im still scrawny).
On a side note: Explorers = excellent or crap. If ya get one made on a Tuesday or Thursday itll be good. Otherwise, plan on re-building every part on it in a few years. Ford employee's arent exactly the most consistent people. My dad is one - I know.
Troopers are good, but I am still not sure about Isuzu being around much longer. Check out an old Pathfinder. Im not real sure what the price is or when they first came out, but I've never seen one getting repaired.
If you really dont want to spend more than 3 grand, get a wrangler. 2 doors, but who cares when you have one of those. Learn to drive stick, spare parts are REAL CHEAP AND PLENTIFUL, and you can do just about anything to them. Good Luck,
PoBoy

The 1st gen 4runners only came in 2 door. But they are hella cool, with the removable top and all! Try to get past the 2 doors. My bro has a 85 4runner and it is a blast to drive. And the thing is unstoppable offroad. Just one question, how do you drive at age 15? Temps? You have to be 16 to drive in Ohio.

Oh and I should add this. My friend had an old Trooper (cant remember the year) and the frame rusted through and was not driveable. So maybe look at the frame for rust. Test drive it. Take it to a mechanic (I go to Rue's Import Auto Repair on Ohio Pike in Amelia, THE most honest mechanic in Cincinnati) Go to www.autotrader.com and look for used ones.

Got my licence at 14 and 10 months, but that was down in New Orleans, LA back when you could drink at 18.
My guess is that he has a permit, or licence with restrictions. That or he lives on a farm and can therefor get it early.

1984-1989 4runners were all 2 door with removable top. 1990-1995 had 4 doors (except some very rare 1990-1991 had 2 doors) with no removable tops. The 1996-2001 4runners have hard tops and 4 doors. You wont be able to find a 90+ 4runner for 2500 bucks. Not one that runs at least. The lowest you could find one would be around 5000 or so.

Thanks Adam. The 90-91 2 doors threw me off. A buddy of mine has a 2door 90 hardtop, just assumed it came in a soft top as well.
Anyways, there ya go Istrunk - get more money. Beg your parents for money (tell them you wont go to that $40,000 a year college so you'll save them money there). That or promiss them a scholarship or something. Paint the house and save them like 2 grand. There are lots of little ways to get money out of your parents. Plus you're in high school. That's the time when you need the best looking set of wheels on the road. Picking up the ladies cruising down the boardwalk. High School girls have like no fat on them yet! Get em while their skinney! I dont think your parents will take that last one as a good reason for getting some money, but hey, your dirty old grandpa might. Good luck again, PoBoy

Thanks for all your help guys,
I looked at autotrader.
I need a car cause I want to get a job next winter, I want a job to make money, to get a better car, vicious circle there.
Yes, I am 15 1/2, I have Temps. I can drive with a parent, and have to get 50 hours of driving time in by September and take driving school, to get my temps.
I saw some nice troopers and a nice ford Bronco for around 2k, so I will probably get something like that, then use the extra money to pay for driving school and pay off my debts. here is a nice ford Bronco I may look at, but I have to get my car back from the shop, then sell it, before I have money

For the love of god, please don't get a Ford Bronco. My cousin has one. It is the worst truck in the world. Breaks down at least once a month. The 4wd hasnt worked in at least 6 months. You cant trust the thing to run more than 50 miles. Seriously. Oh, and if you diddn't notice, it is a 2 door. Might as well get a 4runner, it will last you 350,000 miles and will go anywhere. What about a trooper? Like this:
http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/v...ke=ISU&model=T ROOP&distance=30&car_year=1986&ac_afflt=none&borsc htid=00809082691144402590
Copy and paste the code. The board doesnt like long URL's.

Have to disagree with ya Adam. I am quite the fan of Bronco's. But like I said before about ford, you either get an excellent one or a pile of crap. Nevertheless, down in good ole New Orleans, EVERY High School kid had either a Wrangler or a Bronco (all jacked up about 3 feet of course). There are still a ton of Broncos on the road nowadays, which usually means they are holding up pretty well. I think your cousin got one of Ford's infamous lemons. But Im just a redneck computer geek, so what do I know?
Still though, if you are looking at a Bronco, look at the 4Runner too. Toyota is MUCH EASIER ON THE GAS MILEAGE! Bronco = 12 miles to the gallon on a good day. Unmodified 4Runner gets 19 on a good day 16 on a bad. Plus, Ford is slowly stopping parts prduction on Bronco's. You are going to have to put generic parts (if they exist) if it needs repair - well that may be a good thing.
I still say get an old jeep wrangler (gov't edition if you can find one).
