legal music download search engine

From what I understand the music available on legal download site A is not the same as site B. I think this is something to do with the different agreements with various record labels each has.

Is there any website that will search Itunes, napster etc at the same time and tell you which has the specific song you are looking for and at what price? I am not keen to signup to each just to see what songs that have.

www.allofmp3.com is legal (in russia ) and you pay .02 cents per meg, and they give you 20 cents free.

they give you many different bitrates and types to download from. the more popular the song, the more choices they give you (mp3-128/160/192/256/360,ogg, flaac, etc)

nice place.

Ya, keywords being "in russia". Not the US, and I'd doubt in the UK either but I don't know.

i have had a look at allofmp3 and mp3search.ru. However they seem to concentrate on popular music (chart stuff). I am mainly into funky house and garage. When i do a search on songs from these genres they only have the mixed versions on compliation cds or no results. This is no use to me when I am looking for original full length versions.

I cant by the vinyl as I have neither the decks or the space to store them.

I know what you mean. Finding music to buy is sometimes that hardest part.

You might want to do a search on the term "podcast". There are getting to be more and more independant bands promoted this way.

I'm so discusted with RIAA that I go out of my way to find good bands that are not part of that greedy corporate scene.

This isn't what you're asking for, but check the ads in dance music magazines, like DJ; I'm sure there's various UK rekkid stores and labels that sell legal mp3s, now that more DJs are spinning off laptops. On the back cover of Mixmag, http://www.tidy.com advertises digital downloads.

Nice site! But at £1.50 per track if you buy a tune that has 4 mixes it is the same cost as buying a 4 track vinyl ~£6. Prices need to be under 50p or flat rate per month before anyone starts paying. As the marginal cost is so small I dont see how they can justify such a high price.
