Costly if you ask me
My H/U has a direct connect to a Sirius reciever, but would like the larger screen size our carputers can give.
.... must decide before Stern hits the Sirius air

Wow nice idea! Thanks for this

if you dont mind breaking the laws and giving station owners hell, go right ahead. but programs like stationripper are generally frowned upon alot of places.

depends on the station your ripping from. obviously if you are ripping from a station broadcasting at 24k, no it wont be good quality. it would be more like trying to listen to it through a telephone. but many stations out there broadcast at or above 128kbps which if done right IS cd quality. add on the fact that some stations only run music also makes it even worse.
should i also add that the fact that many stations have to pay upwards of $5000 a year to make their stations legal thanks to streamrippers?
im a webcaster myself and have been using shoutcast since late '99. even though i dont deal too much with streamrippers on my own station, i can understand where other stations owners come from in these arguments.

if i had a nickel for how many times ive seen this response and seen it shot down faster than an airbus flying over Area 51, id be a ******* millionaire right now and wouldnt even worry about streamrippers as much as i do now.
you can go ahead and argue how fm is the same as shoutcast and shyt, but have you ever stopped to think that terrestrial broadcasters feel the same way about those who record off of their station onto casette as webcasters feel about streamrippers? only difference is that webcasters can do something about it.
im not gonna go into a full-on argument here. rather, if youd like to continue this dicussion, go somewhere such as webcasteru.com and discuss it. im sure MANY people there would just love to chew your *** out.
edit: here. i was nice enough to start a thread for you. http://www.webcasteru.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=227

This guy wanted ideas to get radio stations in his car.
The title of your website here you post at is MP3CAR.COM, maybe you didn't notice the MP3 part.
I would think everyone in this forum is Pro-Pirate, I bet no one here has bought a copy of Windows XP for there car......
In fact i help you guys.
Instead of me taking all your precious bandwith ,I take what you have to offer ONCE, and burn it to a cd, with your commercials in it and everything. So your websites get free advertisment with free non-bandwith using airplay in my vehicle.
BTW, I'd like to see a write-up of how you stop a streamripper. What makes one logon differant from the next. I've ran a Shoutcast server back in the day and there was never a way to tell more then just how many users are on your station. There was never a kick / ban IP
Ok, who decided to inject politics into this thread?
I bet that one person atleast has bought XP for their car

Doesn't look like anyone gives a **** about the legality of copying music offline.

This is his first post, why not try to help him out rather than crapping up his thread!
