USB 2.0 driver on an MII10000
I didn't know any other place on the forum to ask this so...
I got a problem with my USB2.0. There are two ports on the back and I also have two ports on the front. The ones on the back work but the ones on the back don't. I did the wirin myself and I know it's ok(it's hard to get this wrong). But the problem is finding drivers for it.
I've got the original CD with drivers but they only work on XP with SP1. And I have an XP without SP. I tried to install the SP but because i tampered with my kernel(bootscreen), he doesn't want to install the SP anymore. I put the backup back in place, but it says the same thing.
Do any of you know the drivers for XP without SP or how to install a SP when the kernel is not original or how to re-instate the kernel?
Thanks

I had a similar problem... I searched online and found the usb2 drivers with a set of regular drivers. The problem is that M$ doesnt want you to find them, and their not generally given out. I got lucky and found them somewhere on a MOBO support page or something (I forget where). They said on the site they didnt have them for download, but then I dl'ed the regular usb drivers, and they were bundled together! I then just slapped em' in the system folder and BAM! I had usb2.0.
I also dont have SP1, nor do I car to get anymore **** from MS to bog my comp down. Seek and you will find. If you dont have any luck, PM with an addy me and Ill try to send you the drivers tomorrow night (or later depending on my schedule).

Thanks for the replies but:
I've got the driver, but I can't install it, because I don't have any service pack installed. I'd like to install the service pack but I can't because I changed my ntoskernel.exe. I reset the backup of the kernel but it still won't install the service pack.
Any ideas?

Sounds like it's time for an enema.

Somehow I'd prefer the enema over win98.

Yeah, I'm afraid your best bet at this point is to reinstall XP. Make sure everything works and you've updated all of your drivers, service packs, etc., and you should be okay. Once you get it all working right, then it would be a good idea to back it up in case something like this happens again. Then, you can start tweaking, changing the gina.dll, etc.
At least, that's what I'd do.
