Longest time between joining mp3car and actually starting project?

Just wondering what's the longest time between joining mp3car and actually starting you project? I just finally installed the first part of my project (power inverter) last night.

I'm in the negatives

I WISH I had become familiar with this forum before I started... but oh well. Personally, I couldn't wait like you did, once I find something new and cool I want to start playing immediately, despite what my wallet might say about it

I think you need to define "starting you project". I would assume the time from April 12 to June 6th you were doing research, aquiring hardware etc. If on Jun 6th you have started the actual install portion of your project then I would say you are at the 1/2 way point at best. Because as we all know, it's never really over/finished.

Even worse, I bought all my stuff over a year ago also!! Maybe it's time to start a worklog thread now.

I'm usually the same way, that's part of the reason why this project keeps getting put off, I got a house to work on now and also recently took up RC helicopters, etc, etc.

About 4-5 months from registration here to actual planning and purchasing of parts. Took me another 2 months (after my initial purchases) to have the entire unit in my car.

I lurked in 99 and joined in 2000 and went through tons of design changes (buying parts, technology advances, software releases). I had my most completed design last year (see below links). However, in my defense, I garaged my car for almost 2 yrs when I moved to nyc and abandoned the projects. Now, I'm about to release a new overhauled carputer in the next month.

Once you finish the first time, it's much easier to commit to upgrade. However, this is can add up.

Joined in January of 2001. Just got my computer in in March of this year (2005).

I had everything together by 2003, started working on it, but due to changing majors, and the fact that my screen broke (and financial woes), I unofficially halted the project. Recently I found myself needing something to get my mind of my troubles, so I reallocated some money and started it up again. The problem was I tried doing it all at the same time instead of in steps.

Even when I unofficially stopped, I still stopped in here a bit to keep up and I would buy or fix something for my car computer every once in a while.

See my worklog, I babble on about this a bit.

Hmm sometimes it can be difficult to teake out a working PC and replace with a new one, that may or may not work first time.

First Car Puter I saw was the Mac Mini install by Mat Turner. Then a couple of months later the West coast customs 300C, which inspired me. So while searching on the topic i came accross mp3car.com

Joined in May 2005.
Started ordering items a week later.
Parts are arriving.
Project to be completed withing 3 weeks.

I joined forums in 2001, and built the first rolling system in 2003.
