Slot Load DVD-Anyone know more info?
A seller on ebay has a bunch of slot load DVD drives for sell. Here is a link to one of them. Has anyone had any experience with these. For $15 they seem very reasonable compared to the Pioneer slot load for $65.
I went to the manufacturer's website and it says that the interface is IDE/ATAPI yet it doesn't look like it to me. It looks like it came out of a Notebook computer. Anyone recognize the plug? Some more searching has led me to believe that this drive was made by the manufacturer for Panasonic.
Anybody have some more insight on this?

Searched "Slot Load DVD" and "slotload DVD" not "Laptop DVD". Thanks WizardPC.

I bought two from that seller on Ebay. I should get one on Thurs and another on Monday. They shipped out quickly. I ordered the adapters from cableclub.com and received them yesterday.

I bought my Pioneer SCSI, slot-loading DVD 2 years ago and it broke suddenly after six months. I bought it explicitly for the car mp3 player I've been working on. I'd probably buy it all over again, though since nobody else seems to have problems with them.
Has anyone else had an issue of the drive reading most CDs, but making a soft clicking sound and dumping any DVD back out?
Thanks,
Brian

yeah, if you guys need anything, let me know and i can bid for you and have them send the product to me and then to you. i know this is a roundabout route but if you are in a bind, just let me know. i am more than happy to help out fellow members here.

hi gregulator,
you just gave an answer to a question I wanted to ask, as I really really want one of those...
If I do the bidding, I'let them send the dvd to you, and you'll send it to me? that would be great, to bad that I'll have to pay shipping twice on the other hand, try getting a slimline slot dvd player in the netherlands....
thank you!

well you guys will have to bid or let me know what you want to bid for the item as they are not going for $15. Looks like they go for $25-$30 on ebay. but let me know how you would want to arrange it, either you do the auction and send the money and i just take care of shipping, or i can do the bidding and you send me the money. i am just the middle man i guess. make sure that the seller is positive he wont ship direct before doing this though so you dont pay shipping twice.
