Computers can still do a whole lot more than stock nav systems and they can do it at a fraction of the cost

I have to agree with everything that has been said here. OEM Navs are 2,000,000X better than anything available for the CarPC market now. The only thing that carpcs will ALWAYS do better is MP3s.
The ability to search for specific songs is priceless. As a matter of fact, I know a couple people who bought new cars, paid extra money for the OEM nav and are still installing a CarPC for just that reason.
1 person I can point you to is Chita79. After a crash involving his tiny '96 Integra coupe and a huge *** Buick Century over the summer on the way to the So. Cal. meet, he decided to get himself an '05 TL with Navi, BT, and a whole lot of extra stuff. He just wants the carputer to have easy access to his music.
Peace,
Rafster

I have a full alpine touch screen dvd multimedia navigation system in my truck, & it doesn't make the pc any one bit less necissary, they compliment each other really.... I call systems like this hybrids, & they are the best of both worlds to me.....
now if that acura system could browse the web w/mobile broadband & I could add a 500 gig hard drive to it & browse it intuitively, then you may convice me a pc isn't necissary...... until then a pc will always be a welcome addition, whether it is up front & central control or just another source added on to an already elaborate system
I wouldn't expect features like this to become available in the us market for some time really, the liabilitys are just to great for the manufactures, so the carpc will be around for quite a while yet......

thanks for the plug rafster The Acura TL's new Navi system is not comparable to ANY car pc gps solution out, and it probalby wont be for a LONG *** time... once i get my custom car pc properly installed in there (make it look totally stock thanks to www.stitchcraftinteriors.com, itll be the best of both worlds for sure. I just have to wait for blitzsafe to get off their asses and come out with the acura/honda DMX v3 aux audio adapter that wont kill my XM radio!!! grrrrrrr
