UPS package (new monitor) stolen from porch
I'm so ****ed off right now. I came home today expecting to find a new monitor delivered by UPS, but there was no box on my porch. I'm pretty sure somebody stole it because I'm also missing a Fedex package. Both said they were delivered Friday, but I was out of town until today.
Usually when I've been gone, I find the packages on my back porch, but not this time. The Fedex tracking website says it was left on the front porch. The UPS package was insured. Anyone know if they'll jerk me around since technically it was probably delivered intact?
They're closed now, so I'll call them in the morning. I'm not sure if I should tell them that I think it was stolen, or if I should just claim that it was never delivered? I can't find any details as to what their insurance actually covers.

If you tell them it was stolen, I believe your gonna have to fill out a police report.
on a side note, I don't like it when people steal avatars, I had you confused with frodo for a sec.

I've had a package stolen before as well. That's why I always request from the sender that the package be signature required. I think you're going to have a very tough time getting anything from UPS. I would contact the retailer and ask for their help.
USPS is even worse, I've had them leave packages sticking out of my mailbox, and they put a rubber band on the mailbox door to keep it partway closed. They may as well attach a "steal me" sign while they're at it.

I think most people are deterred from stealing packages since (at least in the USA) it is a FEDERAL offense isn't it? Bigtime trouble if you are caught...certainly there is more risk than benefit involved in stealing mail.
I thought UPS and Fedex always required a signature? I guess I'm wrong...
Goofus: I'd tell UPS that it was never delivered. As far as you are aware, it wasn't. YOU never saw it delivered, never signed for it, and it is only a guess on your part that it was stolen. For all you know, the UPS driver is a CarPC fanatic and decided to keep the package but mark it as delivered. Make the bastards pay...It will be easier to deal making a claim with UPS for a "lost" package than dealing with the police etc for a stolen package.

It must be different here.
Packages should never be left outside (or in porches). If I haven't signed for it I have not received it (unless it fitted in the letterbox slot in my door, even then this is only normal mail).

Well I feel like a complete jackass now. I have UPS and Fedex both checking with their drivers to get delivery details and my wife just called and said she noticed both boxes on the porch. I guess the neighbors (who I don't even really know) must have realized I was gone and picked them up for me.

I'm pretty sure I had this avatar first. I resized it for an avatar myself from a full sized image (that I stole). I remember his changing right about the same time as mine. It's unlikely we both created exact same avatar of this image at the exact same time. If Frodo claims otherwise, I'll change mine.
BTW: this is exactly how I felt when I discovered my packages were missing.

Sorry dude, you should file a undelivery report.
Couple years back, lot of unsign packages getting stolen and clam it delivered. Most of those packages are expensive electronic stuff like laptops, cameras ... you name it.
One of my laptop was stolen that way delivery truck was never in the neighborhood on the day it said delivered.

He just said he's got them now. Surely filling in an "undelivery report" as you put, it constitute an offence? Fraud?
Unless you missed that bit he posted... either that or we have a fraudster in our midst!

They were holding them for me, I'm assuming. I don't really know. They just appeared sometime after I left for work. As far as I know, it was delinquent lawn gnomes who suddenly felt remorse after reading this forum.
