My point is that I always have my cell phone with me. To get pictures off a camera phone (and to use the web on it for google local, games, ringers, etc.) I have to spend the $15 anyway. Therefore I have internet in my car (as long as my cell phone is connected via USB or BlueTooth) for free as far as I'm concerned.
Im assuming the $15 is for V-CAST. i have inquired about this and representatives have said you wont be able to get EVDO Internet access with the $15/mth V-CAST option.
Are you getting the EVDO Internet with your $15/mth plan with a DUN PC connection? you mentioned your phone connection via Bluetooth/USB so Im condfused. i thought the router handled the Internet?
thx

First off, it's for Sprint Vision / Power Vision... V-CAST is only for Verizon.
I have discovered that the new EVDO phones cannot be used as a modem unless you pay extra. That was never true before EVDO, but they are locking it down now. I have heard rumors that you can type a code into the phone to make it work as a modem without having to pay extra, but I don't have an EVDO phone so I don't know the details.
FYI: With a Sprint SERO play you can get a phone with internet, 500 anytime, free roaming/LD/n+w@7 for $30/mo. If you call *2 and say "credit for dropped call" 20 times a month that will get you $10 off. Therefore you can get a decent cell plan plus unlimited internet for $20/mo! (if you choose a non-EVDO phone internet "phone as modem" will just work, if you chose an EVDO phone you will have to figure out how to crack it ( www.sprintusers.com) or pay an extra $35 to use it as a modem)

I put a clearwire modem in my car today...does anyone know how far pandora streams ahead? I get good signal on big roads, but nothing by my house. Pandora will continue to play after I lose signal...is there any internert radio that streams 10 or even 20 songs in advance when it has signal in the event that signal may drop out?

Pandora streams a fair bit. It never drops out on me at all even if I loose internet for a minute.

I would love to hear more about your clear wire modem for in car usage. What antenna are you using? If you can provide enough data maybe we could put it as a separate post in our review section.

For you Pandora mobile users, you might want to look into a stand-alone app called "OpenPandora". It puts Pandora in it's own app, allows for global shortcuts (even for "I like it" or "I dont like it"), and can export the current song/artist/album to the Windows clipboard. You could probably write a skin for RR fairly easily and tie the buttons to keypresses for the global shortcuts and read from the clipboard to make a banner with Artist/Title/Album.
Once I actually get my new truck, I might look into EVDO + Pandora with an RR skin.

Does anyone know why pandora won't play music when I'm using my phone as a modem (evdo) but it works fine with my DSL? Speed?

Could your phone service be blocking pandora? Last I tried, it worked fine over a 128K connection, how fast is your EVDO connection?
Also, what phone? Some AT&T and Sprint phones can get Pandora if you pay the $2 per month for the subscription to Pandora. It won't integrate most likely with your frontend, but you'd have Pandora everywhere.

My phone gets about 150-200kbps. I installed this "web accellerator" and now it seems to be working...quite odd. I have an Alltel V3m razr. the evdo is slow like dial up, do you guys think the data cards are faster? I was reading about EVDo some...there seems to be a REVA and REV0 that verizon and sprint use, but Alltel does not mention this. Does anyone know?

Mmmm I love this setup, have something similar right. This and shoutcast. I'll have to check out Pandora though.
Thanks for the review
