finished system in stang GT
I finally finished my system in my 96 stang GT. It took forver, and this board helped out alot, thanks to all. Take a look at tha pics, beware those with low bandwidth, there are alot of pics, but those with decent connetion shouldnt take but 30 secs max.
96 Mustang GT
Arm G1 mini comp(1 ghz celery, 128 RAM, DVD,30 gig hd) under passenger seat; power is direct from battery at 14v with a 3A fuse inline, works like a charm
5" MA TFT
WinXP
finger mouse
sound is going through the tape adapter till i get a new head unit

Hey rsp10,
Nice work! Dig the hidden switch-panel. That's a far healthier use for an ashtray than what I use mine for.
What are the functions of the switches?

Nice Install, Normally I don't like it when people have the wires hanging out for the input/cassette adapter... but I think it looks okay in this case. Besides that hidden panel makes up for it... that is pretty sweet. Good job!

Yeah I know how the "insuficient funds" can be. There's nothing I hate more than wanting to get something new and not having the money... but when you work for it and get it, you will appreciate it more.

I have a very similar setup, ARM PC, same mouse.
I'm assuming the red wire drilled is for a remote turn on. Can you provide me some details on how you wired that in.

you know you have a hardcore setup when you have to take the freakin front seat out! Nice setup!
Could you just imagine taking these pictures to best buy and asking them if they could setup your car like this. I doubt it would even start after they were done!

Along those same lines, alot of companies have "On Site Service" for their computers (compaq, dell, gateway, etc.) Imagine pointing them to the computer under the seat of your car!

haha...yea...that would be pretty funny...
CJones: Yea, its a remote start wire, incase I wanted to take the comp and use it inside...i ju dirlled a hole in tha case of the comp..and tested which wires that went to the switch started the comp by touchin them till one pair started it...then super glued that pair in there and patched them outside the case to where i jus plug them in to a wire to my switch pannel...that was acutaly tha hardest part of the seuptp due to how small those wires are to that switch but i love it being i can jus tap in a extra switch. if you have any more qs i can send you pics of how i did it

How distracting do you find having the TFT display mounted on the dashboard while driving?
Where I live I think is illegal to mount it that way.
Anyway, good job, nice car!

acutally, its not so bad, being that it is only 5 inches, i can see over and around it just fine, and being a small car, that was close to my only choice. I acutally like it near my vision of the road so I dont have to move my eyeys so far away from the road while messing with it. Yea, I think they have some laws agaisnt them here, but if and when I do get pulled over for any reason, I will just claim its for navigational purposes only, and that I have to have it because I get lost all the time, or some crap like that, and hope tha cop dosnt write me up. thanks though......

i was thinking about mounting an LCD on the slanting part of the roof (i got a mustang coupe) in between the two sun visors. I figure if i could get it flush enough to the ceiling it might work.... comments?
