Virus in a winamp plugin GRRRRR

Okay I was trying to get an ir plugin for winamp to work with the built in ir port on my laptop....

well, I installed one and it didnt work so I installed the one ment for the Irman or whatever... I downlaoded it directly from winamp and I got a virus.. well I think.. as soon as I restarted my pc, something took control of my mouse and it jumps all over the damn place right and left clicking..... I cant control it!!!!! OH MY GOODNESS THIS IS ****ING ME OFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF $*(@&$*(&@($$)@$*@)_$*(()@!+_%(@)($@%+)*%@_)($)@_+ +$(@$_)+_)(%+$)(

I am seriously soo frustrated I want to cry. WTF do I do now.. I uninstalled winamp(took me 20 minutes of fighting with the damn mouse to get through all the clicking.... I am soo ****ed right now.. I was gonna take my laptop and test out copilot for the first time....

great, I cant even get the computer to boot into safe mode. When windows 2000 starts to laod it says press f8 and I did and nothing happens... SOAB!

Uncontrollable mouse

Had this same behaviour in an iOpener I was hacking a couple of years ago. Turns out it was picking up ir commands from a remote my son was using for one of his toys. It sent out signals on the same bandwidth whether he was using it or not. Almost like it was polling or something.

Are there any other ir sources near your computer when you reboot? Try covering the ir port and rebooting. I had to disconnect my ir keyboard and reconnect a standard keyboard to make this stop.

Hope this helps.

Try low-level formatting the HD. Or slightly safer, fdisk /mbr from a clean, write protected boot disk.

Okay... I figured out the problem.... not a virus. The laptop was picking up my hacked earthmate gps reciever as a "serial track mouse".. So I disabled it in device manager and voola.... everythign works!

I was just reading through this thread and burst out laughing! I'm sorry, but I just can't help myself. This would make for good standup at a computer convention!

Who really would've guessed that a harmless GPS would screw with a computer... Go figure.
Should we put out an alert that gps recievers contain viruses?!?
