03 Buick Regal LS Install
Well, my grandmother needs a Carputer for her 03 Buick Regal LS with Monsoon sound. She also wants new front speakers but the same Monsoon head unit, rear deck speakers, and amp. She wants to keep her steering wheel sound controls, although she acknowledges that they just cause her problems.
I'm telling her to ditch the steering wheel controls - she can get a SoundGate.com module if she decides that she needs them in the future. I've told her to ditch the Monsoon HU so that I can make the LCD Touchscreen install look OEM.
I plan on putting the HU (most likely a SONY CDX-GT100 from Best Buy or Future Shop) in the storage area where the cig lighter is, if it fits. This would allow me to hide the HU because the storage area has a flip-up cover. I'll probably remove the amp if possible. I'll get 2 JVC CS-VX620 speakers from Future Shop for the front doors and i'd like to keep the rear deck speakers if possible. She doesn't need a subwoofer. I'm going to get some Scosche 18-Gauge speaker wire from The Source by Circuit City (40' for $12.99).
Now on to the carputer... I'm thinking of a SP7 VGA 7", with the case modified to that I can attach it to the inside of the dash. I could put a Morex 3688 case under the driver's seat, with a VIA M10000 mainboard, 40 GB Seagate OEM drive, 512 MB DDR, CarPC EZ v2.4, IDE<->MiniIDE cable, Panasonic Slot Loading CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive, USB Bluetooth dongle from FactoryDirect.ca, Mini USB Keyboard, Labtec Microphone, Canadian Tire Power Inverter, and a software interface (set to run as Shell) that can control FM, AM, GPS, Bluetooth Phone, OBD-II Diagnostics and Vehicle Performance, WiFi, and hopefully have it's own IE-based browser or can launch Windows programs such as IE (a website we're going to view with this needs IE - and i tested it in FX and Opera to verify that). Did I mention it needs voice controls?
