I want to build a carputer for my 70 Monte Carlo. I dont have a head unit but I have most of the peices to build a carputer from when I wanted to build one a few years back. I need some help to take what I have to build something nice.

I have 2 slim(bookpc)
1.3 GHZ
512 ram
40 gb hd
onboard audio
no video output(but it does have 3 slots

I also have a 7in screen

A usb remote to control like winamp.

Can someone give me some examples what what types if things i would need to purchase and install. I have good pc hardware knowledge as auto/audio.

DC-DC powersupply or inveter for power, cable for audio, and screws seem to be all that you need for a basic car PC.

what about video is there a converter from vga to compsite

Get a video card (since you need one anyway) with composite out.
