I will post some pics up of my install in a lil while. Basically, I have two Din slots in my dash. I moved the stock radio, which originally was on the upper din slot, to the lower din slot. I installed the monitor to the upper din slot, so it wouldnt block the radio when opened. Plus it would be a lot better to view at the higher position. I got the monitor for an Xbox setup installation. I wired an external removable power switch button for the Xbox, all the way to the front of the dash. So this way, I could turn the Xbox on and off without having to go to the trunk everytime. I also bought 6 controller port extension cords (used 2 extension cords for each port [I didnt use the fourth controller port]), which I ran from the xbox (trunk) to the front seats. Two controller ports were used for 2 controllers. The third controller port was used for the IR DVD Dongle, which I located right below the External power switch button. I know this may all sound a little confusing, but hopefully my pictures will explain it a little better. The Passat has quite a few empty dash blanks, which I converted into switched. Sorry if I went of on a tangent here, but essentially, after doing all this, I was dissatisfied with the way the motorized LCD monitor wasnt as flush (when closed) like the stock radio. I got a unit thats very simple and plain looking so that it doesnt attract attention ( I live in NYC unfortunately). Also, by being so plain looking, it blends in with the dash perfectly. Only problem is, it doesnt install as flush in my vehicle. Im thinking about getting one of those headrest monitors and mounting it flat against the dash console. Only problem is, I would want something that I can take off quickly, just in case I have to park in some seedy area. Any suggestions?
