maybe they'd think "prank caller! trace the phone and arrest those hooligans!"
as long as it doesn't take them as long as jack bauer takes to trace a call...
just hope they get the right hooligan.

lol
thats the thing, even if the car dialed 911, and the police did come, the thieves would be long gone by then anyway, unless they were really really slow
unless the police are like a block from your house when they get the call anyway
i say we need automatic guns mounted to the roof, anyone touches ur car, and *BLAM*BLAM*BLAM*

What about hidden deadbolts either manually or electronically operated to prevent the doors from opening even if the factory locks are disengaged?...
and then if we were hell bent on assaulting the intruder's well-being, what about strobe lights? granted they don't do much in case of a daytime break-in... but i think the majority would be under cover of darkness... if your eyes are trying to adjust to daylight and blackness every 2 seconds, you're not going to make much progress.
here's another thought... we're all supposedly into the carPC idea. your computer is a wonderful tool for automation. Why not when the entry alarm (not shock sensor) is triggered have it dial out to 911 (cell phone or otherwise) and play a recorded audio file reporting a burglary in process followed by a text-to-speech rendition of your gps coordinates or street intersections?
dabbling down those roads i think might avoid the lawsuits and they're just more ideas to improve security or response.
just my $.02, fire at will.
Not a smart idea relying on the police. They are slow. Unless the theif wants to get all the wiring and is careful about takign apart your dash, I doubt that they will come when the theif is in the car. And if the theif is out of the car, the burden of proof that he stole your radio will be on you.

wonderful world we live in huh? well... it's no surprise that armoring companies don't want to have anything to do with making a corolla bullet-resistant, even where cost is no object, so short of kludging my own windows out of lexan (even scarier) and installing deadbolts, i guess I'm just resigned to having my stuff eventually stolen.

i've thought about pursuing a concealed carry permit. i always keep coming to the same conclusion though... i'm not much of a gunfighter. If it ever came down to brass tacks, I lack the killer instinct to pull the trigger. MacGyver was like a big brother to me. I don't/can't use guns!
i could stab the hapless bastard to death though with my Swiss Army Toothpick. Why a toothpick? BECAUSE IT'S DULL YOU IDIOT! IT'LL 'URT MORE!

This has nothing to do with stun guns and im not really reading the posts here
Last I checked. It IS ILLEGAL to create a boobytrap device even for the means of security. An eletric shock car is illegal period in most if not all states.

this thread is old and useless, lets let it die unless someone has actually created one of these.

I remeber seeing these shocking cars on tv once. it was about major car alarms. one had a flame thrower and one had the huge shock. they are out there. and althought they are not illegal in most states. if you do hurt someone they can always find a way to sue your ***. does not matter if they were trying to steal you car. come one this is america we are talking about.
and the concealled weapens permit. dont do it, it is asking for trouble. you should never carry unless you are well trained. as a gun escalated everything 10 fold.

You know, this thread is rather funny to me, I have a friend that actually did install a system like this in his Amigo. Stun gun probes in the door handle, and while being a rather serious and dangerous thing when it comes to hurting innocent people I have to tell the tale:
The BEST part of a system like this is the people standing around watching the OWNER of the car try to get in it... Everytime he goes for the handle he just cringes and you can see the fear in his eyes... Why? It misfires all the time and zaps him. Regardless how good you think you are at making a system like this work, it'll bite you just as often as a theif. I like the idea of hiding LOT'S of high volume siren's all around inside the cabin far more... and a spare battery or two of course!
