Electric shock car alarm system !!!!!!!!

Okey as most people know, the traditional car alarm system makes a lot of noise but does not really prevent a theif from gaining access into your car. If your in the mall and someone breaks into your car, chances are you will never know about it until its too late. Even with the systems that page you, by the time you get to your car, your radio is gone and so is anything valuable you left in the car. My point is, the traditional car alarm system just does not prevent theft for either your car or the valuables in it.

So this got me thinking, how can i design a system the actually prevents access into the car ????? Isnt this the million dollar question !!!!! then it occured to me, how about using stun gun technology to do just that !!!!

I did some research on the topic and i found this article http://wired-vig.wired.com/news/tech...,13931,00.html
I know what most of you are thinking....its got to be against the law right !!!!!!!! Wrong...actually its illigal to own a stun gun in only 8 states in the usa and a handfull of countries world wide. http://www.safetyenforcement.com/stungunlaws.html

So heres my idea !!! I will construct a simple circiut that would deliver the electric voltage (or use this kit http://store.qkits.com/moreinfo.cfm/FK901 ) and install electrodes inside the door handles and in other strategic locations inside the car. the circuit would then be controlled by the alarm output so that when the alarm goes off, it emits the electricity to the electrodes. anyone trying to open the car door would receive an elecrtic shock and would be instantly scared to try open the car again. I would not be dealing with current high enought to make a person pass out, ..just high enought to make you think twice before trying to open or get into the car again. about 50,000 volts...as opposed to most stun guns rated at 900,000 volts.... ouch !!!!!

Now the body of the car would not be energized in case a false alarm occures and a passer by gets zapped. In other words, you only get zapped if you try to break into the car. I have talked to my cousin who is a cop, and according to North Carolina law, i can put this system in my car legally. i will also display windows warning stickers. Post yout opinions on this please.....

Sounds like a good idea, but I would worry about accidentally zapping myself incase something goes wrong with the circuit.

Would you implement some sort of fail safe that disables the alarm and electrodes? Or how about a remote switch that can send a signal to a reciever that turns it on? That would be a good idea.

that is very dooable....since the circuit is controlled by a simple on off switch, you can program one of your remote controlles buttons to turn the electrodes on or off.... good idea btw !!!!!

I would also instal a warning light inside the car that would let you know when the electrodes are on so that you dont zap yourself....

i dont know much about shocking and whatnot, but wouldn't a glove render this useless? again, if the shock goes through the gloves, then my questions answered.

yeah it would go right throught the glove. A very high voltage current say 50,000 volts, would go throught even thick winter clothes...remember this is the same technology stun guns use. If you manage to get gloves thick enough to prevent getting zapped, then you hand will not fit in the door handle to get it open...and remember there are electrodes inside the car as well......and the location of these in my car would no be advertised. !!!!!!

just check the laws in your county about stun guns, i know there are several states and several cities where stun guns are illegal, mine being one of them.

If that shock touches any part of the car's chasis, won't that interfere with the batteries main ground?

Not if the electrodes are on the outside, the bodyshell itself is a Faraday cage, and the voltage would flow around the outside of the car leaving the internals intact.

I'd imagine what'll happen will be like the "razor" defense for the Mercedes Benz hood ornaments. These are those upright Mercedes Benz logo that stand up at the tip of the hood. Vandals love grabbing them and yanking them right off, causing maybe $100 in damage and another $100 to replace the ornament. Some people had the bright idea to place a razor sharp edge along the inside of the ornament, so when they tried to yank it out, it instead cut into their fingers. One person reported success in that they had the satisfaction of finding little drops of blood... but the kicked in body panels and broken windows were not at all satisfying.

So... if you want to go with the shock idea, I'd suggest either a very large shock to completely incapacitate them (which might be illegal), or be prepared for retaliatory damage.

edit: dammit, 84RegalRider beat me to it. Yeah, they'll just break a window.

I've thought about this and researched it myself, but FYI, it can't be legal.

Even if stun guns are legal in your area. You can't set boobytraps (like a shotgun in your window). Remember the guy who electrified his car in a locked garage some time ago? Or the guy in FL who did the same to his store, narrowly missed manslaughter and that requires someone to break in which is probably why he just slid by.

Putting a hazard like that out in the open you'll be *****ed.

Say someone touches your handle and dies (pacemaker for instance) or a child does it, you're going to jail.

If you were to really do it, I'd put it somewhere inside the car. For instance, on mine, to get at whatever is in the doubledin, you have to reach under and inside the dash.

It's the natural place to grip and can't be hit accidentily. Perfect place.

BTW, here's another link on the subject.

Porecting the outside using electircity is a problem. Iw as going to to this myself. hehe...love the legal. Anyways, theres gotta be a way to proect the inside. Honestly...i was going to be a bit more insidius. Maybe a contact neurotoxin that paralyzed the person's extermiity for a few minutes. I mean really...who continues to steal a car when they can't feel anything above thier elbow? Itching powerder and skin irritants, things that won' kill, they can't really prove without saying that "i tried to break into the car", things that would stop them in their tracks and make them reconsider. I mena, my firned has an immobilizer that works AFTER the car is started. If the car stops and kills the guy ro critically wounds him, r another person, apparently, the theif is liable.

hmmm...how about a nice dose of knockout gas or nitrus oxide? Show me a state that bans laughing gas, i'll show you a state full of bad teeth

I doubt any place would ban it, but stick strict licensing restrictions. You gotta be licensed to dispense it, probably.

You can get nitrus without any problems. And a good thing is that ricers have made it very easy for us to install a nitrus tank in our cars

Hmmmm.... but I see a problem with this. What if if alarm goes off when the garbage truck drives by and the windows and everything is locked. So you get in and what happens?

Electric shock alarm system on a car is highly illegal.
