First CarPc..

Ok.. so i just sold my trans am and recently bought a 98 C5 vette. I have about 6k in hand.. I just ordered a new intake for it and the rest is going to pay off some creditcards. I'm a college student and really like the appeal of the tablet pc's. So i was thinking about building my carpc out of my current home pc. its' a Gateway.. Intel Celeron R running at 2.6ghz. I've used this computer for about 2 years now and it keeps giving but i think it's time to move on.. I think it would make a great addition to my vette.. what do you think? any draw backs i should be concerned about?

iwelcom to the forums. inefficiency is the main concern. you'll probably have to go the inverter route which taxes your system more. luckily the vette's stock alt can handle a lot but it's always nicer to use as little power as possible. also, plan on replacing the stock battery if you haven't already done that. the stockers on the early vettes can leak...and leak right onto the wire harness of the pcm.

where are you located?

PS.. my alternator bearings are slowly going out.. i'll need a newer one in the future and i was thinking of putting a much bigger one in there. The battery has been replaced by the previous owner.. but he used a cheap walmart one... I'll get a red top later.

i'm the wrong person to ask about this, do some research in the power supply forums. i am running off a 90 watt psu using the via epia board, dc-dc. if you go the inverter route you'll be going dc to ac then back to dc. not very efficient
