I'm happy with mp3playerstore.com . They were very good at fixing my problem (see above). They pre-tested a new 993 and sent it out. The new one works great.

I guess it is all in the way you ask for things ....

Does any Innovatech player play DIVX files directly from usb or memory card? If it doesn't then I would buy jvc kd-dv6200 because it also plays divx and mp3 and also it has usb slot. But it doesn't have TV tuner.

DVD990 DVD region Code

Also the other problem is with the TV Tuner.
The PAL system isn't compatible with PAL B/G so you have Black and White picture without sound!!!!
The PAL/SECAM/NTSC button doesn't fix the problem. That works only on DVD Player.
Any suggestion from anyone????
It must be some hidden menu that switches the setting from USA to European settings......

DVD990 Region Code menu:

1. Insert a DVD, and wait to the load machanisme
2. Take the remote, and press STOP twice (the unit will say STOP or FULL STOP)
3. Press on the remote this buttons:
First : RIGHT
After: Left
After: Down
After: Up
and the last: ENTER

After this, the region code menu will appear. Select the Region Code 0 to set the machine region free dvd player.

A bad news: The radio frequency stepping aren't to change.

(sorry for bad english, i'm hungarian.)

I'm interested in getting this thing (or maybe the 993), but the interior of my car has red backlights. In all the pics all I see is blue backlighting on the unit, is there a way to change it to a red, or is that the default and unchangeable colour for it?

Hi, I'm new -been surfing the net for a solution to my problem regarding dvd-990.

I installed this unit as indicated in the diagram and didnt connect the backsight or ebrake wires. Everything else sorted ok. I connected the ignition wire as normal aswell. It looks and sounds good.

The problem is that the unit starts to flicker and cut out at high volume or increased bass level wether I am playing a dvd or just the radio. The user manual indicates a power supply reuirement of 14.4v - could this be the problem ? I was thinking of installing a capacitor to increase/ supply enough current to power this unit ? any suggestions ? I have the 12v power supply directly from the battery.

Also, when I turned on the headlights, the interior instrumentation lights on my dashboard went out- blown fuse I think. Did anybody have this sort of problem ?

I also want to install a 7 inch tft screen but judging by the way the unit is cutting out, I dont think its gonna work properly.

Do you think the unit is faulty ?

Help please !

Yes - it appears to be faulty.
I've hooked up two 993s and not experienced your problem - the only problem (so far) that I have had is a faulty antenna conection that causes weak stations.

I installed my DVD 990 over the weekend and so far so good, for the price. It's no Pioneer, but my expectations were low for $200. It is branded Xplosound, and it has a real cheesy DVD splash screen with Portugese writing on it, so if anyone has any idea on how to personalize that, I'd be grateful.

Also, I noticed previous complaints about the unit that it does not have bass and treble controls. Not true. The volume control knob is a multi-control that controls many different adjustments, including bass and treble. Tap the knob to cycle through the choices. However the EQ feature must be turned off to customize the bass and treble controls.

Another neat feature is that if you eject a CD in mid play, it will resume were it left off when you put it back in, just in case you miss the feeling you get with cassette tapes, hehe. This worked even after I replaced the CD with a DVD and turned off power to the unit. Really cool. Now I won't have to listen to the same first half of the CD on my commute.

As far as the 2 TV antenna inputs? Do they both feed the same input? or is there a TV and an AUX? Also, when the backup camera is on, does the music still play? I'm considering wiring a camera to a switch to use as a rear view mirror while driving.

Hmm I just bought one of these off eBay a few days ago for $300 Including shipping. I'm having second thoughts though after reading some of these posts.
It doesn't seem that the 990 is very durable. A few ghuys here have had theirs crap out after only a few months.
Anybody out there that owns one and had it for a while and still happy with it?

Oh and new guy here from Vancouver. Read through a lot of these posts, great info guys

Hey GhotSniper,
Is there any you can post up some pictures of the 990 with the TV function going?
I am curious to see what the picture quality is with the powered antenna.
Also how many channels do you get? As long as I get CBC for Hockey Night in Canada I'll be happy

Seeing that I'm talking to myself, I have another question for myself.
How would I hook up my amp remote turn on wire to this deck?

Use the blue power antenna lead for your remote turn on for your amp.

Works every time.

dvd-993

hey guys. nigel here writing from auckland, new zealand

just purchased a DVD-993 and two DVD393xTV's so if you need any info on these units let me know. they shipped on 23/10 so just waiting now.

extremely disappointed to find out only later that the tuners only support USA zones and do not switch to Europe/Asia 0.1mhz stepping. however i hold on to hope that surely a unit with all the functionality thats built into these have, that there IS in fact a way to switch the tuning mode, just no one knows about it because of the poor documentation and translation from native language to english. going to try holding down certain buttons etc as you usually have to do something like that to switch the modes over.

also disappointed to find that, just as i buy the dvd993 thinking its the latest and greatest one out (i checked innovatek's website and it WAS till a week ago) they have now released 3.6" and 4.0" units that look superb!

http://innovatek.cn/products/all-in-one.htm

i am waiting for my units to arrive (4-5 days from now) and when here i will do some testing to see if they will do what i want, otherwise they might go back to wait for the new 3.6" or 4.0" units.

i'll post up some pictures etc when i get em in.
