I have been looking at a couple different monitors also. I was curious about the 16:9 versus 4:3. It helps to know that it can be configured to 16:9 though. When do you plan to install your screen?

I am looking at the Innovatek IN-800bx. It can be used either with the 16:9 or 4:3 ratio. I figure that if it is the Innovatek brand it should work with hteir DVD player. Do you know anything about installing the flip down monitor?

Go to ebay and search DV-990 or DV990 or All-in-one DVD, you will find many vendors from HongKong will ship it to you.

Originally I was thinking to have the audio shop to install them. But after reading from tips over Internet, I plan to try it by myself in two weeks. All people who installed the monitor said it was NOT as hard as expected.

I doubt it can decode 5.1 or DTS since it really just have two channels. But I will play with it to confirm.

The unit has a mini usb port, but comes with a mini usb to standard usb cable (male-to-male type though). I will not use this usb port much since it has a SD port too.

my 2 cents ... plus a couple of ???

If you leave the wire disconnected, you'll NEVER see video.

I just installed this unit in my Jeep this weekend. The install was easy and pretty straight forward. I agree with everyone on this board that the instructions are terrible. I originally hooked up everything but the power antenna (since i don't have this) and the "Backsight". Everything worked fine until i turned on the head lights.

Then i get this error message "Warring Please stop WAT video player"

so i opened everything up and hooked the "Backsight" to the GROUND. But I still got the same error message. Please...does anyone know how to fix this error.

Also what type of antenna do i need to purchase to get TV signals. The two inputs look like RCA cable inputs.

As far as the good and bad.
Good
The unit plays backup DVDs in DVD+R format.
The unit plays MP3 burned onto DVD. It is nice to have all of my favorite songs on one CD.
Detachable face
Better then expected quality in movie mode

Bad
The units display while on the radio is cheezy at best.
Every time the power is turned off the unit has to read the entire DVD which takes a couple of minutes
The display is fuzy while playing the CD music files (see pictures)
Manual - Learning curve - ease of use

Several people have asked for some pictures so here are mine. Hope this helps.

Loading a DVD...takes a couple of minutes

Directory of Music files on DVD

Blurry screen...impossible to read while driving. Not too bad if you get this close

Folded down to access CD/DVDs

Taking the face off

The cheese.... thought they could have done a better job on this screen. RDS only picks up the station slogan. No clock.

Thanks for the pics. The display looks really BAD. I think I wont buy this. In the close up pic, it looks that the pixels are huge. Is it normal to wait a couple of minutes to read the dvd?

You may try the reset button on the unit. Also "Backsight" wire has nothing to do with the ground. I just leave the Backsight and Brake wire alone and everything works.

I belive it is a mini plug. I ordered one Antena but it has only one mini plug. Maybe we need two antenas?

Nice to know!

I have a 2G SD card and it scans fairly quick. I guess accessing CD/DVD is slower.

Nice setup!

I will try the reset button first. If that doesn't work then I will disconnect the brake and backsight lines.

I assume from your comment about the antenna that yours didn't work with just one. I have seen some online that have two mini-plus on one antenna. I wonder if that is what we need. I might stop by Hi-Fi Buys on the way home.

Anyone with ideas about an antenna please speak up.

Thanks

When I ordered the Antena, it showed two plugs. But after it came in, there is only one plug plus leads to 12V power. I really didn't have a chance to test TV function so cannot say much.

Please let me know if the TV works with your antenna. I stopped by Circuit City on the way home but they didn't have anything that would have worked.

I unplugged the Brake and Backlight as you suggested and the DVD now works when the lights are on..... THANKS.
