no such thing as stupid questions......hmmmm 2001 tahoe...is that a double din?? or 1.5din?? you will probably need a dash kit and i believe but am not sure if this unit is just slighter larger then a single din...it will fit from my undertanding...but i'm sure someone that is more knowledgleable then myself with chime in

I would say yes...
If I recall, the Chevy's that year used the larger 1.5 din openings. You would probably have to get the faceplate adaptor, which Walmart or any Car audio store should carry, and probably the wiring adaptor to make it a bit simpler.

If it will take a single din radio then it shall take the dvd 990...just make sure a single din radio can fit in your car if so then your on the right track. IF not get something of a double din nature or even a kit that will make your double din into a single...mine was a double din but now i have the single din kit and the xtra space i use for holding dvd's & cd's.

LED on DVD 990
Hey i'm new to this, (and couldnt figure how to start my own thread so i added to this one sorry )i read it all before i bought so i guess thanks for the info. I got my player and like it alot, works great the only thing i dont like is that i find it difficult to read the words on the screen (example when ur picking a song to go to) b/c of the white letters on a light blue background...other then that its great for the price. My question is, does anyone else have a deck where when u remove the faceplate and turn the car off the LED doesnt blink. Yet if the key is in the "ON" position it will blink. Typically this means that the constant 12V and the ACC are mixed up but i tried reversing and then the player would lose its memory (which tells me i had it right the first time). IS this common to these players as a reminder to put the face plate on maybe? Or is mine just messed? anyones input would be great. thanks.

I recently purchased one of these DVD-990's.
The screen resolution is pretty poor making the menu writing practically unreadable.
However i can make do as it does play my DVD's ok and the option to use a usb stick is cool.
Anyway my reason for posting is this. I cannot tune into many of my local stations here in the Uk as i think my DVD-990 is setup to USA frequency or somthing.
Can/How do i change the frequency to Europe standard?

i was minutes away from purchasing this unit an hour ago while on one of the pictures, something caught my eye.
after seeing taht pic, i quickly realized that the faceplate HAS TO sit outside of the dash. so i did a bit of google search and landed on here. i saw some of the pics you guys posted and i was right. the face plate DOES sit outside of the dash. IMO thats a terrible design. they could have put the memory card slots on the front of the face plate like their other model, the 393tv. i was really reallyyy loving this unit but unfortunately i think it will look terribly ugly in my interior when the face plate sticks out 2". i would much rather have something that sits flush in the dash. i drive a 98 maxima and this is what the interior looks like !
it would just take the clean-ness of the setup away. too bad

There are subwoofer outputs, I just don't know if they work
I am having problems installing my subwoofer to this dvd player. There are 2 plugs on the back that are labled rear output and 2 that are labled front output. The rear ones are grey, and in the manual labled as subwoofer output. I connect my subs to these RCA jacks, and I get no sound. Is is my unit or has any one else had sucess with subs?
