Couple Questions from a newb

after spending many hours just reading these forums i have decided to build a car computer, but before i take the plunge i have a few questions.

1. This will probably be my biggest problem the weather and vibrations. i live in the northeast so it gets very cold in the winter and in the 90s during the summer. How will the computer react to these changes in climate. also what techniques/methods do u guys use to keep vibrations down.

2. i plan on using an old desktop computer. An old AMD 1.05 athlon with 512mb ram. 1 40gb 3.5 harddrive. crappy graphics card (no onboard) and a nice sound card probably a z2 or something. and also i think a 250w power supply. my two questions are does a good sound card really make a difference and how big of a power inverter do i need.

3. one of the only things i do not have is a touch screen lcd monitor. what are the benefits having a fold up monitor or a regular one, besides the price.

4. i am good with both computers and car audio what are some problems i can plan to run into. i realize using a power inverter i will have to create my own shutdown and bootswitch. also is their a way to make the power button for the display also turns on the computer.

any other tips or hints would be greatly appreciated. thanx
