Dude, send it back. Dishonesty makes baby Jesus cry. Besides, What goes around comes around.

This should not be a "moral dilemma!" Right is right and wrong is wrong. Have you ever heard the saying "Integrity is the only path on which you will never get lost?" I am a forensic accountant and certified fraud examiner and one quality that the employees that we investigate have in common is a broken moral code. They are almost always "good" people, not thieves, basically honest, but they crossed a line somewhere - borrowed money from their employer with the intention of returning it and then never did, etc. For some of these people, it eventually leads to ruined lives and jail time. I know you might think this is a stretch and it will never happen to you, but it can and does all of the time. You might want to check out this book Taking the Harder Right
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/097...lance&n=283155
- authored by a good friend of mine with contributions by a couple of convicted felons - good people who went wrong.
Another good book is The Cheating Culture: Why More Americans are Doing Wrong to Get Ahead by David Callahan.
If you always have a policy of doing the right thing, even if it is the harder thing, you will live with a clear conscience and never cross the line.

Thanks dad...
But as mentioned, I have already decided to send the unit back. Also, although your post was very motivational and inspiring, Zip did say that it was no mistake, and the company sent the 945 in place of the discontinued 915.
Therefore, keeping the more expensive unit is exactly what the company expects that I will do. The problem, however, is that I do not need that unit, opting instead for the 915. So...
If the company expects me to keep the unit anyway (and the shipment wasn't a mistake gone my way) why not sell it (since I can't use it) and buy the 915 from someone that still has one in stock?

Well, I guess at this point you can do whatever you want. You can send it back to mp3car and ask they don't charge you anything for restocking. They probably will make you pay to ship back.
OR
Sell the thing, make a little off it, and go find the 915 you're setup to use. Either way, I'd have a clean and clear conscience about it.
BUT
I would still contact them first.

Sorry for the double post, it was accidental and has been deleted. I got an error message on the first post that said it had not been posted, so I posted again and then both showed up. I'm a newbie...
Mom, not Dad
If the company sent you the 945 intentionally and not accidentally, it's yours and you should do whatever you want, either return it for a refund because they didn't send what you ordered or sell it and get what you want. If it were me, I'd confirm with them that it wasn't an accident and I wouldn't assume that it is so because Zip thinks it is. But then, I have been known to go back into a grocery store and stand in line to pay for a bag of ice that I walked out with on the bottom of my cart...when I was in a hurry...during a holiday weekend. I don't steal - from anyone, ever.

At least call and ask. That'll put your moral dilemma at ease.
But just FYI Laurie, Zip is one of the mp3car staff, if anybody would know, it would be him.

MP3Car is sending me the 915 (UPS 2nd day air) and a call-tag to return the 945 at no cost to me. Excellent customer service!

I have to chime in and say that mp3car.com's customer service is absolutely top-notch.
