Already have motorized shades.
You mean in the back right? They actually have ones that are not motorized btw and much cheaper. I think it's under $100.
There is also a site that sells a generic motorized sunshade for ~$240 (don't have the link handy) and they can be found on ebay as well.

Most of us New Englanders are quite comfortable driving in snow.
Though it is kind of funny, you get half way down to Florida and they get 2" inches and the region is paralyzed.

They were talking about it being possible, I was simply stating that not only was it possible, but it's been done before. In fact, it's OEM now.
And no, it's not only on the back window, I've seen a 7 series with it on the side windows as well.

and you have a 90 degree day and people die...
down here, it's just another day in the park
each region has it's own.

Here we get the worst of both worlds
Over a hundred isn't uncommon in the summer (~97F most of last week), lot's of subzero days all winter and feet of snow.

Yeah, I posted about that here somewhere. The material Shearweave 1000 is basically the same material. A little less open then the BMW stuff, but not much
(Around 65% vs 75%) I got a ton of it on ebay for like $30.
I did my side windows last week and am working on the back. It's a little trickier than I thought to get the back done. It's not hard, but more rewrapping the shade with the new material in a nice clean way.

I had a quick question. What about the winter time? Anyone have problems with hard-drives freezing up on them?

I've never really had a problem with a HD freezing up. Granted that I live in MO and the winters here dont get that cold, but they do get down to 10-15* F sometimes.
One time my HD didnt want to boot up because it was so cold, I just gave it a few minutes and rebooted the computer and it was totally fine.

Well, it's pretty hot in the desert here. Most cars have special radiators and vents. Tinting is done a lot here and without special permission you can tint up to 30%. It helps to keep the car cooler, but not much.
There is some technical info in the library of 3M: http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...AbcPageHandler

The only numbers I have are cpu temps. I have my computer in the hatch and when summer hit I was getting 65+ celsius for the cpu. After tinting the hatch with 5% I got an immediate drop of around 10 to 15 degrees celsius and have not overheated a single time. The tint doesn't really keep a black car much cooler when it's sitting parked in the blistering sun, but there is a FRICKIN HUGE difference in heat when you're driving around with air flow. Tinting the windshield with 35% is about the same - little difference when parked in the sun, but it really helps in keeping the damn heat off your chest when you're driving into the sun, and best of all: PERFECT TOUCHSCREEN DAYLIGHT VISIBILITY.

Today is a good example of that... Sunny, northern Mass, 104 degrees. I'm sweating my balls off.

Hey guys,
I lost my original data for my tint experiment, but I can say that the inside of my car is at least 20% cooler after sitting in the sun the entire day.
And thats with 15% all around.

I intend on doing 10% rear and rear sides, 25% front side (30% is law) and proablby a 80% or so on the front windshield.
While tinting the windshield is illegal here, and our inspection stickers make it trickier, even doing a very light tint gains you all the UV blocking and such. I don't much ned it dark, but my dad did his at 80% front and has bever been bothered and it definately feels cooler.
