Front and Rear Volume Match - Possible?

OKay, I got my carputer set up and the two front speakers and two rear speakers are seperate on my amp, however, when I lower the volume on the computer it only lowers the front speakers, and doesnt lower the rear speakers...

So my question is: Is there a way to link the front and rear speakers so they lower and raise volume at the same time?

Thanks In Advance for any advice/help...

try lowering the master volume, not just the front channels. What software are you running, or are you just trying to do this in windows?

have a look at this. XxAndyxX was working on this. You might be able to get it modified to suit your application.

For some reason my main volume IS my front speakers... In NMC, the volume doesnt lower the rears, and in Windows (Winamp Stand-Alone and such) the rears dont budge.... This is un-acceptable.

I saw that application by Andy but it doesnt have rear and front support. I guess I'll try PM'ing him and see if he could re-write it.

Any other ideas for the time being though?

I'm using the onboard audio with my motherboard, a Gigabyte GA-7VAXP. And for some reason I dont have a "master" volume anymore. I have a "Front" volume and thats what Windows defaults to the master volume. I know this because whenever I lower the volume on my media keys on my keyboard, it lowers the front speakers. Also when I single-click the volume icon by the clock in the taskbar, it brings up the front speaker volume....

So, I need to link them together.

cntrol panel->Sounds and audio devices.

Check your advanced settings on the volume tab. check your advaced and properties in there.

under speaker settings. make sure the right speakers are selected. along with going into the speaker volume button and check.

it really sounds like your speaker setup isnt correct. and its not outputting like its supposed to. id start there. you might not be able to contorl front or rear but you should be able to contorl the total volume regardless. also might want to look at your wiring to make sure everythings plugged in correctly acccording to what the manufacture states. worse comes to worse, you could wire it to have the front jack split to go rear and front so its all coming out of 1 channel. its kinda rigging it and not the correct way but it works as a last resort.

1 last thing i just thoguht of. you can makesure that you have the latest software from the mobo manufacture to control the onboard sound.

uh, no...

all hes trying to do is make the voltage coming out of the rear outputs match the voltage from the front outputs. which is exactly what a y splitter does.

actually hes trying to make his volum control front and rear channels. which it should. if hes going to be watching movies he might want front and rears. A Y splitter from the front would band-aid what he needs instead of fixing the software issue. like i said it would work but he would no longer have a rear channel, only right and left. if its acceptable to him so be it. I personally would figure out whats really wrong and fix it.

you need to get a sound card that has a rear output so you can control front and rear sound level. any surround card will do that

Thanks guys, but none of this works...

My speakers are set up correctly in the advanced settings... Four Quadrophonic Speakers. I tried 5.1 setup, but it didnt sound right and it still didnt fix it. So that didnt work....

And yes, a Y-Splitter is out of the question. I want to have four channels, and I cant believe that something so simple is so hard to do? I would think this would be a standard thing to do? Lower both sets of speakers at the same time? If I had a four speaker setup in my house on a desktop I would want the same thing.....

keep in mind that the only advantage of 4 channels is for dvds, and if you ever play a dvd with passengers, they arent going to be happy with only hearing the rear output in the back
