Rip + Encode DVDs

I would like to know what programs you guys use to rip/encode videos onto your computer hard drives. i used DVDshrink but it just copies the DVD and i get a VOB format. i am looking for a program that will rip and encode the dvd into the mpeg format or something similar. i would really like to be able to watch some DVDs when i am parked in my car, but winamp will not play the VOB format.

so get media player classic, and dont use winamp

to convert from dvd, to divx/mpeg, will take a hell of a long time, i dont know how long you want to wait, but you're looking at an hour+

Search for AutoGK... It takes 2.5 hours per movie, just let it run overnight. Has the ability to autoshut down the pc when its finished. Won't read new sony DVD's there is a program that will decrypt those but I dont remember name.
