Range Rover 2005....what can be done?

Hi Guys,

I have recently changed from my 1999 Range Rover, to a 2005 Tonga Green Range Rover...

Except for being totally in bliss from the car, I have started itching for some mods...

Anyways, since navigation is unavailable from any automakers here in Brazil, I would like to know if there is any solution for using the PC as an "additional" source, but without altering anything in the vehicle...

Basically, I dont want to change anything, I want touse the original screen and touchscreen (although I doubt it would be possible to tap into the touchscreen without severe hacking and warranty-voiding - so I'm willing to forego a touchscreen and use a small mouse of some kind)...

Thanks for any and all ideas.

I will post a few pics as soon as I have time to take them!

Just a few pointers:

from 2004 to 2005, the BMW radio similar to what was in the 5 series sedan and x's , has been removed from the range rover. in my MY, the radio is like the 2006 (I think it is Alpine for land rover), also there is now a MOST fiber system in the car.

Dunno if any of this is worthful info...

Thanks!

I'm a bit confused Roy, an "additional" source of what?
Media? Vehicle Info? Climate Control? Parking Sensors (and Video Camera)? All of the above ()?

BTW, congratulations on the new purchase!

As an additional source means that I dont want to remove the radio, (or anything as a matter of fact), I want to use the PC as an input.... it would be a source for GPS, Audio, Video, basically anything that a carpc and be a source of...

sorry for not being clear, and thanks for the congrats! I've been riding on a cloud!

does the OEM screen have any additional video inputs? I would be surprised if it did which means you cant use the screen for anything else so you would need an additional screen.

Well, yes most screens do have some wiring kits that can add inputs, and IIRC it is the case for this car.

I imagine that something similar to what one guy did on an FX could be somehow accomplished (basically an adapter that tapped into an RGB input)... If that doesnt work, I'm willing to try S-Video input, although I doubt that it would look too good...

Anyways, I dont want an extra screen, and there is no way I am removing the original system - there is just too many additional functions in the radio unit.
