Wire gauge Q

Ok, as far as I can tell, according to this site (http://www.powerstream.com/Wire_Size.htm) I can only run 2.3A on 18 AWG wire. If I use 2 18AWG wires does that mean I can draw a max of 4.6A or is there a more complicated way of adding 18 AWG and 18 AWG?

Why not just use a larger wire?

Probably because he has a bunch of 18 and he doesn't want to buy thicker wire, or it is cheaper to get 18 then whatever he really should be using.

Technically, you could do that.

no, it's cause I wanna set up a wire harness for carpc using an ATX style connector, and it has 18AWG wire already connected to the pins. So i was wondering if it would work if i used 2 or 3 wires for power in the plug, the same for ground, and then I've got all sorts of other pins for other stuff, like my XM, monitor, USB hub, amp remote leads, etc. Basically I just wanna be able to unplug one big connector, plus the USB, VGA, 1/8" audio plugs and serial connectors to get carpc out instead of 10 little stupid crimp connectors and then all the rest of the ****.

EDIT:

Can someone recommend me a connector that will be more suitable for the above, something that might take a 10AWG that i can use for power and ground and then smaller wire for all the other stuff?

look up anderson powerpole connectors. they come in various sizes and can be hooked together to form one connector block and you can do it so it can only every be connected one way.

they are easy to assemble and use good contact area silver plated contacts.
